The leading source for clinical, practical, cutting-edge information for advanced practice nurses and clinicians.
This year's theme for National Nurses Week is “Nurses Make the Difference.” To make a difference means to have a significant effect. Many APRNs generate revenue in their workplaces but are often referred to as being cost-effective, which carries the undertone of a cost center. It is time to reframe services provided by nurses within the context of a business model, shifting nursing from a cost to a revenue center. #NursesWeek #APRNs #NursePractitioners https://ow.ly/VOWb50RzzIQ

#ThankANurse today and check out the link below to learn more about how the American Nurses Foundation and our partners are giving back for National Nurses Week (& every week)!
When I first joined Orr Group, my first client was the American Nurses Foundation. All these months later, we're still working together! I have been so inspired by the nurses I've met and the innovative solutions that are being developed to support the largest percentage of the workforce in the healthcare field. Next week is National Nurses Week - and we've teamed up with some amazing corporate partners that will be giving back to nurses. Check out the link below for details - or, if you've ever been impacted by a nurse (and let's be real, who hasn't been?), I hope you'll consider making a gift to help nurses have the resources and support they need to care for us but also to care for themselves. #ThankANurse

With more nurses leaving the field than are coming in, we need more than just how to combat burnout. We need real change; the stress of being short staffed, over worked with the quilt of “helping out the unit” on your day off and not enough self care for the nurses caring for these critically ill patients everyday. This program sounds like a good start, but when will legislators address the real issues? When will companies increase the pay of nurses to be competitive enough that people want to work in healthcare, especially those working at the bedside? When will companies make it mandatory for nurses to see an Employee Assistant Program (EAP) monthly and pay them to go. The stigma behind EAP is heartbreaking, mental health needs addressed frequently before it becomes a problem. Healthy conversations around the stresses of nursing could prevent nurse suicide, burnout and masses leaving the best profession out there. The gift of helping another person on their worst day is our purpose. When nurses feel that purpose, it lights the fire in their soul and nurse come back to work wanting that feeling again and again. They don’t dread going to work, they are excited to see the faces of the patient or families they help that shift. Nurses want to aid in their patients recovery, make them feel cared for or help them when they are suffering. ❤️❤️ #nurselife #mentalhealthmatters #nurseleadership #timeforchange
