We get to do this.
Is #healthcare hard right now? Absolutely.
Is working in #ems and #emergencymedicine hard right now? Absolutely.
But we GET to do this.
In the past two weeks, I’ve worked two of the busiest days in the emergency department, and on the most recent one I thought “I get to do my dream of years ago. I get to do this.”
Changing the word “have” to “get” is changing your perception.
Something I picked up from Jocko Willink and JP Dinnell of Echelon Front .

Nurse leaders are... 🥁🥁🥁DRUM ROLL🥁🥁🥁:
Born with the heart of a leader AND then made with support and love.
Of course they are! Would any of us really thrive without others lifting us up? So...... what does this mean to you?
1. Find the people with the heart to lead. They might show it, or you might have to reveal it... but they've got to have it deep down.
2. Show them that you will support them in tangible ways and give them a transparent path forward. This builds confidence which builds ability, which builds their likelihood to step up.
3. Love what you do and share that often, and find love in helping others see their purpose as a leader.
Having a leader's heart alone doesn't get you where you are going. It takes those around you to lift you up in tangible ways.

Most nurse middle managers feel helpless, but they don’t see what I see.
They are disconnected from the impact they can make as they focus on the wrong things.

This month's Q&A recommends what #nurse leaders must think about when enabling the use of Generative AI in their practice settings:
✓ Identify and define the best use cases and scope and objectives for implementing the new technology.
✓ Ensure policies, procedures, and protocols are in place so roles and responsibilities are clear and follow the organization's clinical and technology use guidelines.
✓ Provide patients, caregivers, and clinicians content without protected health information or other sensitive patient or clinician information in documentation and supportive resources.
✓ Frequently evaluate that automated outputs are from recent, reputable sources, including news stories, blogs, social media posts, and health literature.
