MERIT not DEI (Didn’t Earn It). ❤️❤️❤️ This IS my Great Aunt Phyllis Ernst. She was a MAJOR cover girl back in the day. But it isn’t about how she “looked” — she had real courage to move to big cities (NYC/LA) during that era (early 1900s). She became the top “Secretary” (what now would be the DEI of Chief of Staff) to Paramount Pictures! Instead of focusing on her “title” or being put in a position because she fit a box an HR person could check; she earned her career on her MERIT & her belief in what an opportunity was and her value add. I’m sure the DEI folks reading this are making snark remarks about her looks getting her these jobs — 1) every person should have a standard of excellence about their appearance…it’s called sel respect 2) do you realize the shit women like this put up with (ie let’s not forget Harvey Weinstein). So, as this is a professional forum, let’s not forget that MERIT & EXPERIENCE are PARAMOUNT (no pun intended) to success of one’s self and your company or initiative. If you are doing otherwise, you are negligent and committing malpractice to your goals; and, discriminating against those who bring those skills to the table. #EarnIt #FlashbackFriday #StopThisDEIBullshit
