I think Neal Katyal may have overextended here, but Jeffrey Rosen (Nat Constitution Center) hit the nail on the head. Regardless what you think about the case, the defendant or the decision, the Rule of Law (https://lnkd.in/ga37tYD7) is the lynchpin of our Constitution and Democracy. Ignore or undermine the equality of all citizens under law, and you destroy democracy. It is reprehensible that any individual(s) ever elected to represent citizens of this Democracy (as established by this Constitution) should be casting doubt on a decision fairly and unanimously rendered by a jury of peers mutually chosen by, and after consideration of all evidence presented by, both sides. The rule of law of course allows for appeals of judgments to a certain point, but this approach will almost certainly fail. here As Huxley said, "Those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it." Every autocracy in history has begun their takeover by undermining the rule of law. Just re-watching the "Rise of the Nazi's" on PBS, and the parallels are chilling. Show less

United States of America, was recently featured in Law360: The Leadership Now Project, a business advocacy group, told the justices in its brief that the American ideal that no one is above the law has established the country as a leader in business innovation. If that were to change, the stability and predictability of the nation’s economy would plummet while a lawless executive goes unchecked, the project said. “The resultant loss of confidence and weakening of basic democratic guardrails would undermine economic growth by dampening investment, discouraging innovation, and irrevocably altering the fundamental rule-of-law expectations that have created and sustained a robust and grow in American economy,” Leadership Now said.
