A call out for fellow female authors! Meet Ryan, Simon, Stephen and Tim. Your options for company by the pool this summer. If you're at your local bookshop today looking for your holiday read...take your pick, people. From these and the 98% of other male authors you'll be getting to know via the majority of books on offer. This only hit me when I started writing and researching my own book. Only 2% of best-selling business books are written by women. Does it matter? Well, given we barely know what we're missing out on, how can we even say. But given that 2% stat, just LOOK at the outsize impact a Cheryl Sandberg, a Brené Brown or a Mel Robbins has made on the world so far... And maybe, just maybe, there needs to be a tiny bit more space given over to women's lessons, theories, approaches and successes in biz...via bookshelves. What can I say. I'm on the case. If you get one thing right in life make it this. Choose your other half carefully. Not on paper...in person...and based on the RIGHT criteria. Rewind back to 29 year old me and if some had have told me I'd marry A recruiter From West London Who didn't make it through university And who would take me to Dubai to live I'd have died laughing. Not because any of that is bad. But because that was the exact opposite of everything I was living and experiencing at the time. This man would very quickly prove to be the kindest, most generous, most hard-working, resolute, supportive, visionary and positive influence in my life. Do we agree on everything? Nuh uh. Do we get the big, important stuff? 100%. Get this right and your life has a built in support system. Get it wrong and you're going to spend a lifetime fixing it. As they say - marry in haste, repent at leisure. So take your time getting this one locked. Trust me, it makes ALL the difference. Happy anniversary Justin McGuire. Ok does DEI actually need to DIE?! My sense, given the last couple of weeks Given the amount of confusion, misunderstanding and begrudgement around it And the fact that so many believe it is about 🔢 Filling quotas, reporting on % 🛑 Unfair opportunity for some over others 🏬 Being one person's job or role in a business ☑ Training out all our biases (this is simply impossible) 💰 Looking good on a website or socials And not simply about what SO MANY on here do for a living (yes recruiters, I'm looking at you) 😎 Which is making sure the right person GETS the opportunity to do the best job in a business ❌ Regardless of their background, age, gender, schooling, accent, skin colour...need I go on Is that YES, DEI as it is currently (mis)understood needs to DIE. Because actually when you explain it in those simple terms - as I did last night to 20 odd businesses via Terry Edwards fantastic weekly clinic - they get it. They also get that how you go about it is actually not rocket science - it's just using updated tools and learnings for an ever changing world to deliver better, fairer and more profitable outcomes. Just like we do in sales or marketing or IT. To the extent that THEY ended up reminding ME that it's not actually ALL about making more money for your business (which better representation and inclusion DOES, it's just a fact folks) But simply the RIGHT thing to do. The good human thing to do. And if there's one thing I know about 99% of the people I get to meet is that we are ALL trying to be better at that in massively challenging times. Good morning 14k! 🤸🏻♂️ This year so far has been a massive massive adventure for me. A little welcome / refresher for the newbies! 🤘🏼I sold my second co-founded DEI biz in March. ⁉️I had a zillion questions about what’s next. 😟I was too burnt out to engage my brain on that. 🙌🏻 So just started sharing everything I’ve learned over the last ten years as a mum of 3 in biz 🥊The growth, the ruts, the re-starts, the wins, the methods, the pain and the process. ✨A few wonderful female founders reached out to learn more And since then… I’ve started working 1:1 with them every week … I now have seven amazing founders 💛 🤗 And I’m opening up a couple more slots & a monthly group in Sept (link in comments) 🌱 In the background… 📕My first book (one of the 2% of female biz authors…wtf🙄) is almost ready to be published. 🙏🏼 I’ve become a Reiki Master 👩🏻🎓I’m (almost) CBT certified! ✨I speak & consult weekly on DEI with corp clients 🗺️and I spend my time between Dubai, Sri Lanka (pic below) and the UK…as a little tribe of five! I’ve seen loads of people on here recently almost apologising to LI for their upcoming break 😅 Or maybe to themselves For allowing time to tune back into what’s really important, to take their eye off the ball, to give their brain a break? Apology not needed nor accepted. Tuning out is a vital part of being able to move forward. I’ve had my best ideas, joined dots I never saw before and come up with new directions precisely when I’m not looking square on at the problem. Give yourself permission. And happy holidays ✨

I literally don't care about the noise on this story being white guys raising money from white guys for a female app. This isn’t a post berating anyone. Anyone can solve any problem they like in my book. In other language, this is called 'allyship'. I'm just here to flag the obvious - that the female market IS massive. So next week when another female founder comes to tell you that, dear investor, please believe them. (And understand they already have a head start in that space). Maybe it's time to listen. Let's activate the female market on ALL fronts. #femalefounders #investors

A reminder that Reach means nothing Likes mean nothing Engagement means nothing Connections mean nothing Numbers mean nothing UNLESS It is all WITH the right people. It's Marketing 101. Quality (niche) over quantity (not your people) all day. So next time you 'only' get 22 likes on a post BUT can potentially follow up with 30% of them because they're your target market...
