"Inhabiting Time" is the concluding presentation of Korean curator Somi Sim’s year-long collaboration with Breguet. Placing chronological and architectural space in dialogue, this final revolution of the clock sees Sim engage with how people singly and collectively experience time. In this video, Sim explains how the display for Frieze Los Angeles, featuring the work of artists Gordon Matta-Clark and a new commission by People’s Architecture Office, responds to "the very intimate human relationship we have to time." Each edition of the collaboration has focused on a different dimension of time and each has featured two artists. "My reason for approaching artists in pairs for each exhibition is to approach time from multiple perspectives," explains Sim. "I have curated the exhibitions as a dialogue between two artists, with the connection to Breguet forming the triangle." Free and open to all. 🔗 https://edin.ac/4aBWyTX 💬 The place of elite women in Mughal-era social, political, and artistic spheres has recently begun to garner attention from scholars, but the same cannot be said of the physical space that they occupied, namely, the zenana. This area within a palace or royal encampment was one of the most inaccessible, closed-off to outsiders through both physical means, be it walls or tented enclosures, and by scanty written descriptions of such quarters. And yet, surviving material culture allows for a greater understanding of these female residential spaces. By consulting contemporary references to and descriptions of the zenana in Mughal and European sources, and through the examination of extant Mughal palace complexes and the beautifully rendered images of these spaces on the painted page, it is possible to delve into the boundaries of the zenana and achieve a greater understanding of its creation, planning, and use.

That book I really like (unlike the one on radical museology). Four essays on the contemporary art trends and practice - research based installation, performance exhibitions, interventions and invocation of modernist architecture. How do we look and perceive art today through the screens and permanent information noise? What has come instead of attentive and slow looking? What is the problem of contemporary spectatorship?

I have recently published two articles. The first one is an exhibition review for "Beyond: Tadao Ando and Art" at Curator: The Museum Journal. In this paper, I tried to explore whether an exhibition about a well-known architect is a challenge or opportunity. This exhibition at HEM was certainly pleasant but also reveals that big name's exhibition is quite tricky. The other one is about Chinese rural revitalization through art at International Journal of Arts Management. This interesting case study of Qingtian reveals a different project approach, which contains a well-balanced stakeholder management. This thesis is concerned with how two main genres of public art: traditional and ‘new genre public art’ evolved in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong between 1990 and 2012 in response to political, economic, spatial, social and cultural changes. Since 1990, Chinese public art has focused on traditional forms of public art and the relationship of public art to architecture and urban planning. Unique forms of public art and architecture, I argue, have also been emerging amidst a dynamic of unprecedented rapid urbanisation and the country’s significant engagement with the global community.
