This isn't limited to our Client base – it's a trend across the majority of corporate roles mandated to external Recruiters. Why? If these roles were in English, companies would quickly source numerous qualified candidates, both locally and globally. The abundance of talent for English-speaking roles diminishes the need for specialized headhunting services such as mine. While I can’t change established hiring practices with a LinkedIn post, I can provide practical advice to enhance your career prospects right now. Here’s an oversimplified summary of the current landscape: ➜ German-Speaking Positions: The scarcity of fluent German-speaking professionals makes these roles challenging to fill, requiring extensive headhunting in many cases. If you are proficient in German, stay proactive in your job search - maintain relationships with a select few recruiters who understand your career aspirations, allowing them to bring tailored opportunities directly to you. ➜ English-Speaking Positions: These roles are rarely outsourced to headhunters like me because companies are confident (rightly so) in their ability to attract suitable candidates directly. When I present our platform, people often think that ELJ is a recruitment agency. No, we are a 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱! A recruitment agency is a service provider that actively engages in the hiring process, through sourcing, screening, and selecting candidates on behalf of employers. A job board is an online platform where employers post job openings, and candidates search and apply for positions. When I talk about this with recruiters and companies, I always use the national job boards of Portugal (net-empregos) and Spain (infojobs) as examples. However, we operate at a 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 and only focus on the 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲, instead of operating nationally and with all types of vacancies.
