5 Resolutions for Montessori Parents - 1. Give them appropriate choices- whenever and wherever possible! 2. While teaching something new, talk less and show more. 3. However tempting as it may seem, avoid using rewards or punishments. 4. Encourage independence by allowing children to take on age-appropriate responsibilities 5. Stop comparing your child with other children and be happy with the way they are! Do let us know which one are you planning to take up first? #montessorieducation #montessorilearning

What is up with all the different alphabets in the Montessori early childhood classroom? Well, they each have a unique purpose that matches the growing capacities of the young child. We start with the easiest transition to writing possible with the traditional pink/blue and green card alphabets. These alphabets closely resemble the sandpaper letters where the children learned the sounds of the letters/phonograms. So, writing is an easy next step. Then we move on to cut-out letters to add a bit more complexity and challenge. Children have to orient the letters accurately in three-dimensions and build their own phonograms. Finally, we introduce solid color alphabets so we can isolate spelling variations or other language complexities like compound words, plurals, antonyms, and more. The thing with humans is that we leave the other person with a 'feeling'. This can be a great thing if the feeling is of encouragement and support but that often does not happen. More so when we are trying to 'teach' our kids. This is where 'control of error' from Montessori helps. It's an interesting way to productize education in the early years. Something that I have enjoyed learning about over the last couple of years. Another thing that I learnt while shooting for the course 'How to Select a School for your child?' is how all Montessori schools are not created equal. For those who are interested, link to the course: How to Select a School for My Child? - https://lnkd.in/dwSBqBwU

Maria Montessori wasn't just about educational theory; she envisioned a path for young minds to truly thrive.💡 Her words remind us that education is not only within the four walls of a classroom but also found in the rich experiences of life. "The essential reform is this: to put the adolescent on the road to achieving economic independence. We might call it a 'school of experience in the elements of social life.'" - Maria Montessori How are we preparing our youth for the real world? Economic independence is a milestone—what steps can we take today for our adolescents to confidently stride toward it tomorrow? 🎓💼 Share your thoughts and experiences!
