For all blasting and explosives experts. Would stemming height (in another way stemming weight) affect on in-hole density of gassed bulk water-gel explosives or it wouldn't and only the product weight affects the in-hole density? Let's have your valuable comments about this. #blasting #mining

If we are talking about chemocally gased bulk explosives, then yes. The length of the stemmingl affects the degree of compression of the gas (N2) and, ultimately, affects the average density in the blast hole. The hydrostatic pressure in the bottom of the blasthole at a certain point will depend on the mass of the charge at that point. The mass determines the pressure at the point and, as a result, the degree of compression of the gas bubbles. The smaller the volume of gas, the lower the density. In other words, it's Boyle Marriott's law.

No relationship between stemming weight and its effect on explosives density .but stemming weight affects the performance and efficiency of blasting gasses by confinement and thus results in good fragmentation. But the way of loading the explosives into the hole affects the density of explosives by increasing it . Loading manually or using a truck to Loading explosives materials into the hole .

There are three density values that are important: Explosif density: when it's packaged Loading density: when the Explosif is loaded in boreholes Critical density: when it's exceeded the Explosif do not explode or when it's exploded it gives bad performance

The product weight have a direct influence on the in hole density while the stemming height relates inversely proportional to the in hole density. An increase in the stemming height decreases the in hole density and vice versa. Hence, the stemming height have a great in impact on the in hole density of the watergel explosive

Depends on the depth of your drill hole and size of the hole and yes, it will affect your in hole density of your emulsion based explosive.

Thanks for sharing... just a few areas...steming is a calculated ratio in relation to the explosive and hole length.
