We recommend two options to spot where jack pads and outriggers are going before deploying them. One, the FireTech Laser Light Cannon, we've shown here recently. The second option is our Undercarriage Light (FT-AQX), shown on Rescue Fire Company's Pierce Manufacturing Arrow XT midmount Ascendant. Our undercarriage light provides a wash of light that illuminates the whole area under the truck, and it's durable enough that it can be places near jackpads or outriggers in mechanical compartments. Bonus: It can handle submersion up to 100ft in water.

When Jonathan Tate realized heart disease is the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths, he started paying attention to nutrition. Firefighters are already at a health disadvantage, with studies suggesting that firefighter life expectancy can be up to 15 years less than the average American worker. While firehouse meals are a known and beloved tradition in their world, the meals they cook at work don’t necessarily have a reputation for being the healthiest (but they are definitely delicious). Food on the Stove aims to change that by educating and providing healthier meal options to fire stations. They offer workshops, cookbooks, and collaborations with nutrition experts to equip firefighters with the tools and knowledge to make healthier choices. Jonathan’s deep emotional connection to his mission is one you don’t want to miss out on hearing about. Episode 2.5 of The 24/48 Podcast is available now, wherever you listen to podcasts! 🫡

The BG2S system is a traffic direct, warning light, and scene light all in one. Grab a seat, we have A LOT to talk about. 👀 To start, we need to give some background. In 2018 we developed the BG2S lighting system as answer to the need for zone control on the leading edge of a fire apparatus cab. Each BG2S module is 4” wide and allows for sizes ranging from a single module wide up to the full length of the apparatus. This means you can have BG2S run on all sides of your apparatus and would allow for you to take advantage of all the configurations BG2S has to offer. Speaking of BG2S’s configurations, let’s talk about the traffic director first. The traffic director adds amber LED circuits to your fixture to create a synchronized traffic indicator across BG2S modules. BG2S also works as a warning light by engaging the warning functions of the fixture. Aside from the standard amber color, you can select red or blue as well for your BG2S fixtures. This allows you to match the desired warning light colors on your rig. Lastly, if you’re putting a BG2S fixture on the front of your truck, you have the option to add an the standard marker light function that operates the proper amber modules as marker lights. Let’s say you have BG2S on the left and right sides of your truck. This would allow you to pull up on scene at an angle and turn one side of your truck into a traffic director to direct cars around your truck while the other side of your truck could then be a scene light to help you work more effectively at night. Now that we have the light configurations out of the way let’s talk about the BG2S Use Interface Panel (UIP). The UIP can be added to your BG2S system to make it easier and faster to get light on scene. Using optically grouped fixtures, and one or multiple switch panel locations, the UIP helps rapidly put light around any side of the truck. One more thing, you can have up to four UIP’s installed in different areas of the truck so your lighting can be easily operated no matter where you are on the truck. Finally, with the BG2S system having eight different options for mounting extrusions, we are positive there will be a mounting option for your truck. We know, we know, that was a ton of information BUT if we missed anything or if you have questions, let us know in the comments and we’ll be happy to answer! 🫡

Spec’ing a new rig and don’t know where to begin? 🤔 Good news: we offer a completely free service that will help you move in the right direction! Lee Shaffer, our Technical Sales Engineer, is the guy in charge of our Custom Lighting Specs. He knows a scary amount of information about fire trucks, so you’ll definitely be in safe hands with him. Our Custom Lighting Spec is done in two different sections: 1. Lee takes a 2D drawing of your truck from your manufacturer and he overlays what lights would work the best for your truck. 2. Lee will create a 3D rendering of your truck to show you the distance of light you’re getting. This will show you how fair it goes up onto a building or a car accident, depending on the use of the truck. Lee does a fantastic job with these and gives you every important detail and then some. If this is something you’re interested in, then follow the link in the comments and fill out the Custom Lighting Spec form. Lee can’t wait to chat with you! 😃

Part 3️⃣: Grab your steel toes, we're smashing things today💥 The FireTech OMEN warning lightbar is the most durable lightbar in the industry, and we're going to prove it to you. Why are we doing this? Because your tech should never be the reason a call goes bad. Why are we so confident? Because the FireTech OMEN has all aluminum modules and there are no plastic covers like you see on typical lightbars. We'll keep upping the stakes until we figure out what it actually takes to destroy this thing ... pitch us your best ideas 😈

Why does the Pixel Ladder Light only work for certain customers? The Pixel Ladder Light is a super cool product that we offer (unless your name is Lee or Joe and then it can only be referred to as a "pretty cool option"). People ask us all the time if they can mount it to their older truck and while the answer is yes, you can, it’s not super easy. When mounting the Pixel to an older truck you have to take into consideration how you will run the wires from the aerial device all the way back down to the truck to the control system. So if you're looking to retrofit this on your rig, we will likely steer you away from this. But if you're looking to spec this on a new rig, 😮💨😍🤤

A 4-up bezel for your FireTech taillights: Ten-8 Fire & Safety has a full FireTech lighting package on their truck from headlights, warning lights, scene lights, and even taillights. They used several different lights from our Guardian Series of fixtures, so their truck looks extremely cohesive from front to back. They’re one of the first to feature our 4-up bezel for their taillights. The 4-up bezel allows you to house your Stop/Tail, Turn, Backup, and a warning light all in one place. Starting at the top of the bezel, they have our HVC Guardian Jr. Warning light that goes with the rest of their HVC Warning Light System. Going down one, is their Stop/Tail light and then below that is their Turn light and then their Backup light. Lastly, the Guardian Jr. Tail lights have the same industry-standard footprint and bolt patterns as legacy technology produced by other manufacturers. Meaning, if you already have your truck but you want to update your taillights, these will fit seamlessly – and they still come with the same FireTech advance exchange lifetime warranty you know and love. 😎 Pierce Manufacturing

We talk about the funny reason that James decided to join the fire service. (Spoiler alert: he wanted a dash light really bad) After a few years, James progressed to becoming an officer and treasurer in his volunteer fire department. When it became time for his department to purchase a used fire truck, they had a terrible experience. This would become the start of Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus. To find out the rest of his success story, from how he got his first business loan to how he’s expanded to other projects, then head over to your favorite podcast streaming platform to give it a listen! Fun fact: The Brindlee Mountain office also serves as a small fire department where they run 90% of daytime calls for their area!
