Things I regret doing as a Law Student 👨🏽🎓 As a final year Law student at Sheffield Hallam University, I've realized the importance of certain areas which I regret not doing sooner. Here are my top three regrets and what I've learned: 1. Legal databases 💻 These are a MUST for research tasks, essays, and general referencing. Although I've used them throughout my time at Hallam, I regret not spending more time in my first year really learning how to use them properly. Understanding how to use the search engine and which 'trigger words' to use to find relevant articles is just as important as having access to them. 2. Time management ⏰ Time Management is key. Allocating specific hours for studying, working out, and researching and applying to graduate schemes has helped me stay on top of things. If I could go back in time, I'd tell first-year me to make a schedule and stick to it. It's easy to fall off track without one. 3. Taking advantage of university 🏫 In my first two years at Hallam, I stayed cocooned around the same friends doing the same thing. It wasn't until my sandwich placement that I decided to be more active in university societies and teams. I wish I had taken a more active approach earlier on because it has helped me meet more people, come out of my comfort zone, and be invited to support the university in various ways. Although I can’t change my past, I can use all the things I’ve learnt to shape my future! 📈
