Hongkong Land Limited and its luxury retail tenants will invest over US$1 billion (HK$7.8 billion) in the LANDMARK project in Central, Hong Kong. Hongkong Land Limited will contribute US$400 million (HK$3.1 billion) to upgrade its LANDMARK retail portfolio, with an additional US$600 million (HK$4.7 billion) expected from retail tenants such as Cartier, CHANEL, Christian Dior Couture, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada Group, and others. The investment aims to enhance Central as a premier luxury destination and meet growing demand for retail space. The project will create 10 multi-storey Maison destinations, expanding luxury brand retail areas to over 220,000 sq. ft. (21,000 sq. m.) and providing enhanced services and amenities for clients. It will also introduce new F&B concepts and increased space, including al fresco dining and Michelin-starred restaurants. The transformation will proceed in phases, beginning in the third quarter of 2024, and maintain operations throughout. Sustainability measures include the use of green building materials and aiming for high environmental certifications. The transformation supports Central's status as a luxury retail hub and reinforces Hongkong Land Limited's market leadership. EdgeProp Singapore: Savills Global Luxury Retail market report revealed that Singapore’s prime retail sector along Orchard Road was one of eight global luxury retail locations that experienced an increase in headline prime rents in 2023.    Headline prime rents along Orchard Road increased by 4.1%. Hong Kong Developer Hang Lung Expands Shanghai Mall to Tap into China’s Growing Luxury Market Hang Lung Properties, a Hong Kong-based developer, is set to expand its flagship mall, Plaza 66, in Shanghai’s West Nanjing Road, Jingan district, by 32,290 square feet by 2026. This move comes as part of the company’s strategy to tap into China’s growing luxury market, which is projected to surpass the US as the world’s largest luxury market by 2030, according to a report by PwC. Janice Cheung Lam-na, director of mainland business operations at Hang Lung, stated that the expansion aims to cater to the increasing demand for high-end luxury goods among Chinese consumers. The project, which has received approval from the local government, will introduce new experiences and stores previously unseen in China. The expansion will add approximately 3,000 square meters of gross floor area, accommodating 20 new stores. Hang Lung’s portfolio also includes Grand Gateway 66 in Shanghai. Real Estate Asia: Savills Singapore's Q4 Retail Briefing forecasts that more than 3.4 million sq ft of retail space is expected to come online in the next four years (2024 to 2027).
