It’s National Sorry Day. 🖤 💛💗 On 26 May each year, National Sorry Day marks the tabling of the "Bringing Them Home Report" in the Australian Parliament in 1997 and commemorates Stolen Generations survivors. The Bringing Them Home Inquiry examined the truth of Australia’s Stolen Generations past, and its report shared this truth with the nation. On 26 May each year, National Sorry Day marks the tabling of the Bringing them Home report in the Australian Parliament and commemorates survivors of the Stolen Generation. The report was a landmark truth telling process, sadly almost 30 years on a number of the report’s 54 recommendations remain unmet. The theme for this year, ‘Bringing Them Home – the unfinished business’, highlights the growing urgency of acting on the outstanding recommendations. We cannot begin to fix the problems of the present without accepting the truth of our history. Sorry Day is a time to remember the past policies of forced child removal and reflect on the sad and painful stories of the Stolen Generations. Yesterday, the petition for a Royal Commission into Domestic Violence went live. This Royal Commission seeks to achieve deep, thorough and full inquiry into the systems enabling abuse, like Family Law, and The Hague, the lack of harmonisation between states where women are in a Post Code Lotto as to what support for their safety they get - for example, non lethal strangulation and coercive control isn't available to women in all states - WHY? Why is there a post code lotto on women's safety depending on the state she lives in. And where is the perpetrator programs to hold those using violence to account? When women "just leave" we know she isn't safe, and continues to be unsafe for many years later - it's time for post separation abuse to have a voice too. The adoption of the Transitional Justice Policy is really a great news and a breakthrough for our nation to deal with the legacy of systematic and massive violations of human rights which occurred in the past, to ensure reparations for the victims of these violations, and reinforce the possibilities for peace, democracy, reconciliation and institutional reform. This is the golden opportunity that we should never allow ourselves to miss out to participate in the effective implementation of the process. #TJ_Policy #Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Saturday stupidity: Here’s an example that highlights how ill informed people are when it comes to middle eastern history and the local politics surrounding it. Once again we have our brilliant so called “representatives” looking to pass a referendum to terminate any government contracts that have a connection to or can be seen as supporting Israel. Little do they know it seems, how much infrastructure is indirectly related to doing exactly that. But in an effort to be fashionable and follow the agenda driven deep state financed B.S. we have ill informed and misinformed public servants trying to speak on your behalf and enact policy that does not serve their constituents. When will they learn that stupid is as stupid does?
