Chartered MCIPD; Executive Coach; People & Operations Director at Fizzboxcom Ltd & COO at The Eventa Group (trading as The Stag Company)
Woohoo, we’ve got a date for our next People people meet-up - a chance to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections! We’re going to do things a bit differently this time and keep it proper low-key. We also thought we’d see how an early morning meet would suit people, as we appreciate that evenings are precious…and who doesn’t like a cheeky midweek caffeine fix? Liz Dollin, Helen Monk and I will be at Café Coho - the Queens Road branch up by Brighton station - from 8am on Wednesday, July 24th until about 10am, and we’d love to see your face. We've reserved the back room which should be big enough, though if we suddenly get loads of interest we might have to re-think….this is where we usually meet up, so we thought we’d stick to our roots! 🌱 People people usually ends up being a small group of lovely folk chatting about the wonderful world of People…or anything else that springs to mind. If you work in a People, HR or L&D role and would like to pop along, please either comment on this post, or let one of us know via DM, so we can keep an eye on numbers - we decided not to faff with an Eventbrite link this time around! #community #people #event #connections #hrevent #hrevents #networking #networkingevent #hrnetworking #hrprofessionals #hrcommunity #hr #peopleprofessionals #learninganddevelopment #landd #hrbrighton #brightonandhove

Executive Search Director | Career Coach | Leadership Training | Connector | Business Transformation Leader | I'm a Talent Spotter
Have you been on the Holiday Party circuit? Did it benefit your #JobSearch? It can benefit you, and you should really be going to the #CompanyHolidayParty because if you plan to stay with your current company, it's the place to break out beyond your department and get to know other stars in the world where you are already employed. It's no secret that the best place to advance your career is amongst those who already know what great work you do. ~ Ask to be introduced around (your HR person might be happy to do so) ~ Introduce yourself to any of the speakers ~ Find out who organized the event and thank them. Maybe you make suggestions, perhaps you offer your support for upcoming events on the calender ~ Be a keen observer: notice who arrive early and leaves early. Who dresses festive, who dresses down. Who leads the fun, who is not having fun. Who has a circle around them, who is not game to engage. It's your chance to see your bosses and colleagues in a new way, don't neglect the chance to learn something new about them When I am encouraging my #CareerCoaching clients to attend these parties, I ask them to set 2-3 goals for the event. Maybe they really want to meet someone in the company who seems too elusive/exclusive/executive... this could be just your chance.. Don't forget the follow up. I've been spending today emailing more than a dozen people I have met in the last week, some were very casual conversations from the Holiday events, some were fantastic and fun bonding. Already, I'm so looking forward to continued synergies. CHEERS! #careercoachingtips #networking #Minneapolis #NewYorkCity #TheEuroConnect

The Monday blues are not hitting as hard this week, as the Brabners employment team have a number of fun events to look forward to over the next few days! 🙌 One of these is the The Petty Pool Trust's Neurodiversity at Work Conference on Friday 14 June at Carden Park Hotel. Neurodiversity at work is a topic I am extremely passionate about and I devote a lot of time advising on, so I feel very grateful and lucky to have been invited to join this event as a panel speaker! I will be talking about why neurodiversity in the workplace is important from an employment law perspective along with my employment colleagues Trishna Modessa-Parekh and Susan McKenzie, and we will be providing practical advice to employers as to how they can support neurodiverse workers. This will be part of a larger panel discussion with our fellow Brabners colleagues about how we as a firm are approaching supporting neurodiversity in the workplace: 🔹 Laura Cordingley, COO. 🔹 Beth Mclean, Senior People Business Partner. 🔹 Lynette Smith, Senior Learning and Development Business Partner. At Brabners, we strongly believe that businesses have a responsibility to bring about positive and lasting change, so we are thrilled to be furthering these important conversations addressing inclusion at work. 👏 With an exciting line up of speakers, it’s going to be an insightful day! There is still time to join us — find out more below. 👇 Sally Garratt | Suzie Henderson | Sue Wright | Joe Onions #neurodiversity #neurodiversityatwork #employmentlaw #inclusivity #EDI

Some really interesting pointers on how work parties can be more neuroinclusive.
Keynote speaker | Neurodiversity training that's fun, engaging & impactful | Making environments & individuals neuroinclusive (workplaces, schools, families & more) | Thriving with ADHD | Social Entrepreneur
Your work party is NOT neuroinclusive if: ❌ it is compulsory ❌ what is happening is a surprise ❌ the details are ambiguous/complex ❌ the schedule changes at the last minute ❌ the venue is loud with nowhere to escape to ❌ it's in a crowded venue with no alternative space ❌ it is planned or communicated with very little notice ❌ there's no written or visual information about the party ❌ you don't ask attendees if they need accommodations in advance You work party IS neuroinclusive if: ✅ it is optional ✅ the details are clear and concise ✅ as much notice as possible is given ✅ any schedule changes are made well in advance ✅ the venue includes areas with different noise levels ✅ you give people the option to be told about the surprise ✅ information about the party is provided in written and visual format ✅ the venue includes areas that are less busy that people can escape to ✅ attendees are given the option to request accommodations in advance It's holiday season! So as an employer it's important to understand how to make your parties and events accessible for neurodivergent people. What would you add? --- 👋🏻 Hi, I'm Jess. I make companies neuroinclusive. I deliver exceptional, enlightening and engaging talks and workshops. And I offer a range of highly impactful consulting services. Want some help to make your business neuroinclusive?
