As someone who does outbound for a living nothing frustrates me more than being mis-ICP'd.
Getting pitched for products and services that have zero application to your buyers and their businesses is gross negligence on the part of leadership.
Step One - who do we want to take money from? That's our ICP.
Step Two - Create a product/service they need and will give us money for.
The outbound machine is broken and it needs to be reassembled.

Someone recently asked, what I do as a fractional CTO. Here's a neat way of describing it.
✓ The type of situation you customers are in before they need an fCTO
They have a team of 3+ engineers, and they feel that something needs to work better. Software is built slowly, or with poor quality. They want to scale, but are not sure of what
✓ What do you d for customers
I look at the people, process, and tooling, and find one or two things that need to change. I work with the customer to improve those things. Repeat.
✓ What areas do you specialize in
Software engineering for web-based or mobile applications.
✓ What are the kinds of customers and industries to whom you add most value.
