A situation shared by a colleague got me wondering: Can interns seek protection under the POSH Act? 🤔 🌱 Interns & Inclusion: As interns, it's sometimes assumed that they aren't fully part of the team due to their temporary status. But this shouldn't mean that they are left without a voice. Treating interns with respect is essential for a supportive and secure work environment, regardless of their tenure. This respect fosters dedication and skill development. 📜 POSH Act and Interns: Well, the Act does not specifically define interns. However, if we broaden the scope of the term "Employee," it encompasses individuals employed at a workplace for various work arrangements including regular, "TEMPORARY", ad hoc, or on a daily wage basis. So, YES, even as an intern, you have the absolute capacity to approach the Internal Committee (IC) of the company to file a complaint under the POSH Act. ⚖️ Challenge and Solution: The challenge arises when companies fail to establish a proper redressal approach for temporary employees, interns. In a situation I recently encountered, the company had no clear plan on how to proceed with a fair investigation, which was particularly concerning given that the intern's tenure was set to conclude in just 4 days. How could have the organisation handle this situation better? 🔒 CLEAR POLICY: Develop a policy specifically addressing how to handle harassment cases involving interns. 🕊️ INTERN REDRESSAL: Formulate Privacy Policy with a fast-tracked redressal process for intern harassment cases, considering their short duration. 📚 POSH EDUCATION: Educate interns about their rights under the POSH Act during onboarding. 👁️🗨️ VISIBLE SUPPORT: Display POSH information visibly to show commitment to intern safety and inclusion. If only the companies can create a more supportive and secure environment for interns. Not only would this build their confidence, but it would also demonstrate the company's commitment to upholding ethical standards and treating all employees, including interns, with respect and dignity. #InclusiveWorkplace #InternshipInsights #POSHProtection #EthicalEmployment #RespectEveryRole

Intern can also be protected if they are doing online internship. As workplace covers everywhere where the work is assigned or where the women is doing work it may be home , office etc. If the person who is harassing virtually through WhatsApp or any other social media that also comes under workplace. So the Act is so broad. I have a question here? There is limitation of 3 months to file complaint can the women file complaint after 3 months if there is exceptional case Hrishikesh Rajeshirke ? And lastly thanks for insightful post Hrishikesh Rajeshirke
