Now THIS is what I'd call a hi-quality hard launch! 🔥 The partnership announcement between Texas Tech Athletics and adidas is somewhat of a masterclass in sports branding, if you ask me. Why am I such a fan of this announcement? It incorporates two key elements that differentiate average content from the *hi-quality* content that we're always after. 1️⃣ Personality: This isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill partnership announcement. There's an element of humor that's laced throughout. You don't have to be Texas Tech fan-- or even a college football fan-- to find the humor in their nod to the time Pat Mahomes used a piece of tape with the word 'adidas' scribbled on it to cover the old Under Armour logo on his gear. Humor is universal, and when leveraged properly, it draws people in. 2️⃣ Storytelling: There's a big difference between informing your audience and engaging them. The thing that drives that jump? The ability to tell a good story. This announcement weaves in a story that provides historical context and gives deeper meaning to the relationship between Texas Tech, Adidas and Pat Mahomes. It takes their audience along for the ride, from beginning to end. This is the kinda stuff that gets me fired up about content creation! Another dope example of the way strategy and creativity can elevate a business decision. 👏

This will be a great panel session looking at how businesses are having to adapt to meet new regulatory requirements but also other market pressures that are forcing change. I regularly talk to businesses about pragmatic, risk-based compliance but the pace of change that is needed in the next few years is significant. After all the hype surrounding the Wall Street debut of Birkenstock, the German footwear company, the reality was rather more sobering. Although the business achieved a valuation of $7.6bn, which is almost twice what its owners paid two years ago, the shares listed under the ticker “BIRK” enjoyed a less than sparkling first day, falling 12.6 per cent, or $5.80, to close at $40.20 compared with the initial public offering price of $46 each. Birkenstock opted to list in New York over Germany partly due to the attractive valuations and high trading volumes on offer. America is also its largest market in terms of sales
