What's in season in the UK in March? Well, not much, unfortunately! We're entering the Hungry Gap🌱: that period when winter crops are winding down (like carrots, brassicas, leeks, squash) and before the spring crops are ready to harvest (new potatoes, asparagus, beans, salads, peppers). During this time, we'll still enjoy the last of the hardy veggies: beetroot, cabbages, chicories, and, one of my favorites, the purple sprouting. ❄️It's also a good moment to use frozen veggies and fruit to add some variety to your meals. Fun fact: freezing is a great way to lock in nutrients! Personally, I always keep peas, leeks, onions, spinach, cauliflower, blueberries, and raspberries in my freezer! How about you? That scent has always tugged my heart towards #agriculture. As our family forays into growing #food, what better crop to grow than the #superfood that is the cherished by my favorite animal, #horse. At the end of 2023, UN year of #millets, we sowed a largely unknown millet to the west, #horsegram, on our land in India. My heart brims with pride to see my #dad leading the harvest of this miracle crop. ... horsegram, also known as kollu, kulthi bean, gahat, hurali, or Madras gram is a horse's favorite food. Grow out P-system & Salicornia I've started taking care of our P-system grow out with afternoon feeding. What's neat about this system is after running through filtration and geo bags, the nutrient-rich effluent water is used to grow the salicornia that's then formulated into the feed study diets. We're growing Salicornia bigelovii, known commonly as glasswort, pickleweed, or sea beans. You've likely seen them boarding marshlands, growing on barrier islands, or wild horses munching on them. If you ever try them yourself, they're very salty. Another thing I can't help but notice. Is it just me, or do black sea bass look like bulldogs? Short, stocky, big head, ugly mug, lazy, and only seem motivated by food? Sounds like every bulldog I've ever known.

Food Baby! Some trips, some days, and some months are all about the food. Where do the ingredients come from? Where does the meat come from? Where does the veggies come from? Where does the dairy come from? Do you know? 🍽 The ingredients come from animals raised by farmers and rancher. The ingredients come from farmers who grow crops/plants. The ingredients come from natural products/animals/plants on our land that God created. 🥩 The meat comes from livestock ranchers and farmers raise. 🥕 the veggies come from the soil, first from seeds or seedlings grown my farmers who plant them and tend to them for many months before they are full grown. When full grown we eat them. 🧈 The cheese, sauce, and many other ingredients come from dairy cows who produce milk. The cows are cared for my men and women who get up early in the am to milk and also milk in the afternoon (2x a day or more they milk cows).
