HumRRO had the pleasure of hosting a dozen students enrolled in George Mason University's Early Identification Program last Thursday! Since 1987, EIP has given first-generation students opportunities to achieve their goals of higher education and to thrive in academic environments.
The students' "Shadow Day" at HumRRO began with a tour of our Alexandria HQ. They then broke off into smaller group sessions with HumRRO staff to participate in career-specific activities and learn what it's like to work in applied research, IT, graphic design, contracts, and human resources as well as the path to those careers. The group came back together for lunch to mingle with staff and share their EIP experiences and hopes and plans for the future.
Special thanks to GMU's Afra Ahmad and HumRRO's Teresa Bui and Karla Castillo-Guerra for organizing the event. And to HumRRO staff Nathaniel Burgess, Albert Cal, Jason Cidras, Shannon Frank, Lana Farah, Juliana Freire, Coleman Gentry, MSIOP, Olga Golovkina, Tim McGonigle, Emily (Rost) McKissick, Ph.D., Rob Minjock, Ph.D., Dea Mulolli, PhD, Rae Powell, and Sofia S. for sharing their career journeys with the students.
HumRRO is dedicated to advancing science, society, and the profession through its work and volunteer service. We were honored to participate in GMU's EIP and look forward to seeing what these incredible students achieve in the future!
