This is just another frivolous lawsuit brought against a Law Enforcement Agency by a family who has lied about the incident from day one and are being backed by anti-Police activists and some attorneys that looking to make a name and a dollar for themselves and the family. They are just proving how much of a joke the legal system can be sometimes. There is just one person responsible and at fault for Dexter Reed’s death, Dexter Reed. He had a gun and he shot at numerous Officers hitting one. Instead of following the lawful orders of Officers who were conducting a legal traffic stop, he chose to continue his criminal lifestyle and shoot at the Police. Simple truth is that he would be alive today if he did not attempt to kill Cops. A good #Officer and a good man was taken from this world by a criminal with an extensive criminal history. Officer Mohamed Said, only 23-years old, was investigating a suspicious person and checking to see if the individual needed help when the suspect ran and the confrontation occurred that caused Officer Said his life. No matter what the politicians, media, activist, “progressives”, and unfortunately some Law Enforcement “Leaders” say, there is a War On Cops. Law Enforcement Officers are being assaulted and shot at the highest rate in years and #Officers are dying from these attacks. In order to stop this War On Cops, we must bring the fight to the #criminals. We need proactive, assertive, and lawful enforcement operations, we need proper resources and equipment, we need a coordinate effort between Law Enforcement Agencies on all levels as well as the prosecutors, and we need to fight to change the criminal justice system so that it holds criminals accountable again for their crimes and serves its mission to protect the law abiding members of the community. Most all, what we need to battle this War On #Cops is strong, effective, and brave Law Enforcement Leaders. We need Leander’s who will lead using by principal not by optics. We need Leaders who will stand up to politicians and speak the hard truths to them. We need Leaders who can make decisions themselves and not rely on the lawyers or politicians to make their decisions. We need Leaders to stand up with their Officers and support them fully when they are in the right. We need Leaders who will promote the best people not those that will make their department photos look good. We need Leaders to fight to fix the criminal Justice system the activists have broken. We need Leaders that will push proactive, assertive, and lawful #policing and speak against the de-policing trend that is occurring in the profession. We need leaders that will speak the truth to the public and the media about what dangers Officers are facing on the streets each day and the effects of crime on the community. Stop-and-frisk is a controversial policy in US policing, but formed a key plank of Philadelphia Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker’s campaign manifesto in an effort to tackle gun violence; Arizona State University Professors Michael D White and Henry F Fradella believe stop-and-frisk can be used effectively and without contravening the constitution, if coupled with careful controls and a change in culture and accountability. ❝As criminologists with expertise in policing and law, we previously explained that stop-and-frisk can be both constitutional and useful if carefully controlled.❞ ❝This standard of proof involves more than a hunch – but less than probable cause – that the person stopped is involved in criminal activity.❞ ❝Perhaps counter-intuitively, aggressive policing strategies like stop-and-frisk have the potential to increase crime. While the main stream media and the social media “news” outlets seem to only air stories of Police Officers doing bad, each day Law Enforcement Officers across the United States commit far many more acts of heroism that get ignored. Officers run into burning buildings to save people, they confront armed and dangerous criminals, the jump on subway and train tracks to rescue suicidal or incapacitated people, they treat possible fatal wounds before medical personnel can arrive on scene, they shelter possible victims from gunfire, and so many other acts that meet the definition of valor and heroism. But to often, now one knows because the media wants the “sexy police corruption” case or flamboyant, unverified, and false stories about police wrong doing. Law Enforcement must do a better job of pushing out the good and heroic news that Officers do day in a day out to counter all the negative news. Remember a lie travels the world a hundred times before the truth gets out of bed. We must no longer remain quiet or shun the press or saying “no comment.” We must push press releases to the media routinely as well as take our stories to the public directly through as many social media sites as we can.
