Juneteenth On June 19, 1865, Galveston, Texas, held a momentous celebration of freedom. Despite the Civil War's conclusion on April 9, 1865, slavery persisted in various states, with Texas being the final Confederate state to abolish the practice. The 135th US Colored Troops, which included my great-grandfather, played a pivotal role in paving the way for General Sherman's journey to Texas. President Reagan's remarks are worth listening to with your children/families, teams, and friends when reflecting this Veteran's Day. 1. All we can ever do for our heroes is remember them and remember what they did - and memories are transmitted through words. 2. To those heroes who died in defense of our country, in defense of us...we still think of you. You're still with us...we pray for you still, and we'll see you again. 3. The living have a responsibility to remember the conditions that led to the wars in which our heroes died. 4. All our heroes who died for us and our country were, in one way or another, victims of a peace process that failed; victims of a decision to forget certain things; to forget, for instance, that the surest way to keep a peace going is to stay strong. 5. We endanger the peace and confuse all issues when we obscure the truth. 6. Each new day carries within it the potential for breakthroughs, for progress. Each new day bursts with possibilities. 7. "I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

One way to gauge the moral compass of a society is to observe how they treat their hostages and prisoners. Every report and testimony coming out of Isr*el's dungeons is utterly horrifying and morally repulsive, signifying a dark-age medieval morality that the world evolved past long ago. The malignant virus of supremacy inflicting the Isr*eli government and its forces can be seen in its shockingly dehumanizing torture of Pa*lestinian hostages abducted by the Isr*eli military from Ga*za. Have you ever heard the question: "How do you eat an elephant?" Well, we all know that the answer is one bite at a time. With the intensity and tenacity that Warriors live their lives, it can be hard to not want to eat the elephant in one bit. One of the questions we ask our Warriors on a WWA Adventure is, "What is one thing you are going to do differently when you go home?" There is massive intentionality behind that question. But one thing we coach them in is to not set a huge, lofty, impossible goal. Choose something that is manageable that they can start doing today. There is a lot of great literature out there today that are specifically written on small, habitual changes. The healing journey and the impact on others is not a goal that will just "happen" overnight. We have to start somewhere, and we have to start small. The most important thing is to steadily work at it and over time, you will begin to see the BIG results. Proverbs 21:5 says, "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." Slow down, plan your tiny habit changes carefully, and be diligent. Over time, these small changes will lead to massive impact! You can be certain that the long game is always easier with a battle buddy by your side. Jesus wants to be your battle buddy in your adventure. He was, is, and always has been there for us and wants to sustain us through our growth. MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Take a moment to look at his face. This 19-year-old American soldier on D-Day had one mission: to retrieve fallen comrades from the blood-red waters of Utah Beach. For 12 grueling hours, he used his bare hands to drag lifeless bodies ashore, one after another, until he collapsed from exhaustion. Look at his face. You can see it—the price of freedom. 90% of the soldiers on the first boats didn't survive the day. Many never reached 18, never voted, got married, or owned a home. They did this for us.
