NATO leaders will meet for their annual summit with war raging on the European continent. There are unclear promises of a "bridge" to NATO for Ukraine, at some unstated time, but no consideration of the costs and risks of such rhetoric, let alone following through. At the same time—with growing scrutiny about the military capabilities of non-U.S. alliance members and the ability of NATO-Europe to take responsibility for aiding Ukraine—there's talk of NATO operating in the Indo-Pacific in an effort to balance China. After three-quarters of a century, what is the future of NATO? Should the United States still carry the burden for European security? Or should it shift defense responsibilities to wealthy European allies? How should the alliance react to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine? Is NATO still necessary to defend Europe from Russia? And is there a role for NATO in the Indo-Pacific?

Trump raises an important question to all NATO nations: What is the value of membership to you? Is it worth the cost in money and possibly lives of your loved ones? Other countries should not expect the United States to sacrifice our treasure and potentially the lives of our loved ones to protect countries who are not ready to make similar sacrifices. I had the opportunity to discuss the future of the #NATO alliance with Voice of America. We are hearing of a great deal of anxiety across Europe about the prospect of another change in US leadership, and particularly a second Trump administration. There are a number of potential points of policy differentiation between a #Biden 2.0 and a #Trump 2.0. Across the security space and the transatlantic relationship, the worry is that the rhetoric we saw during Trump’s first term won’t just be rhetoric a second time around but will be backed up with action. What will this mean for the US' continued engagement with its European Allies and NATO? 🙋🏿♂️ Are they boosting that Europe while facing an existential threat and 71% is a record compliance ❓ 👉🏿High School: A 71% typically falls within the C range (C- or C) on most grading scales. This is usually considered an average grade. 👉🏿College: A 71% might translate to a C- or D+ depending on the school. A C- is still considered average, but a D+ can be worrisome, especially if you're aiming for grad school or a competitive career path. 🙋🏿♂️ 300k+ debts , hundreds of billions “invested” ( forget the replacement cost of those overpriced bombs), WW3 talks , nuclear weapons being tested… what would it take for C students to get to a A ❓ 🙋🏿♂️ Will Barron Trump be registering this draft? 🗣️ Trump fired like a dozen 5 star generals … more is needed to Trump proof NATO and 🇺🇸 involvement in Ukraine… incompetent C- students!

The world needs fresh ideas and a new type of politics and politicians, representing mankind as a whole and each of us as equals instead of fragmented political interests! We have to grow together in order to urgently address the issues that impact all of us like conflict, climate change, inequality and forced migration together. Telegraphically, on the TikTok model, some conclusions about the NATO Summit. The anniversary and the symbolism came out beautifully. The final Declaration and the rest of the decisions show us an Alliance that cannot simultaneously manage assistance for Ukraine and deterrence and defense of the Eastern border at the stated level of ambition. So the NATO heads of state decided to prioritize. Help for Ukraine will be urgent and vital. In the medium term and important will be the implementation of a new NATO deterrence and defense posture. The Black Sea region is strategic, as in fact "every inch of NATO" but it is not vital nor does it represent an emergency. At least 10 years of "Afghanistan" type scenario with a complexity 100 times greater than the original is coming for NATO. Two things that undermined the credibility of the Alliance at the summit, Viktor Orban and the American Democrats pressuring President Biden.
