I recently had the privilege of attending an insightful webinar on statins and pharmacogenomics, hosted by ISCP. professor Jasmine Luzum (Talameh), PharmD, PhD, FHFSA, FAHA delivered an informative presentation about the role of pharmacogenomics in identifying high-risk patients who may experience Statin-associated muscle symptoms. The case studies and practical examples shared during the post-presentation discussion greatly enhanced my understanding. These real-world scenarios beautifully illustrated the concepts. This May is Friedreich Ataxia Awareness Month. Patients with CHF who are on diuretics frequently develop hyponatremia. In such condition, 𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁 such as tolvaptan or conivaptan might be used to induce diuresis without significant loss of Na+.
