Collaborating across the sector is so important.

An Electrician can make $200k per year. In fact, one of our best Michigan based clients had (6) Electricians earn $200k and (10) earn over $150k. This is not Ford or GE or another multi billion dollar public company we represent. This is a modest $100M privately held family owned organization. These are first shift positions. They are limited to one weekend per month. These guys are home every night by 5 PM. They do not carry any student debt. They will NEVER have to worry about job security. If you find yourself displaced, you can find a manufacturing job TOMORROW. Prove yourself for six months. Enter an apprenticeship program. You can earn $50k-$80k per year while going to school FOR FREE. People need to be around people. They need to work with their hands. They need to build things. People need to see things grow. This is in our DNA. If you have been isolated… Working from home… In front of a computer (for the past 4 years)… And now find yourself without a job or purpose… MAYBE ITS TIME TO GIVE THE TRADES A LOOK!!?? There are many jobs that will become obsolete in the name of progress in the years to come… THE TRADES just may be your shield against our perpetual need to move forward…

🚨🪠🛠️⚙️🧰🗜️🚨 Smart! This generation is trending back to the #skilledtrades. #cte programs across the country prepare these students with the #technicalskills required. The initial pay and apprenticeship model is also a favorable part of the movement, leading more students down the vocational training path. Kudos to The Wall Street Journal for shedding light on this movement back to these career paths. My favorite takeaway: ‘Demand for trade apprenticeships, which let students combine work experience with a course of study often paid for by employers, has boomed lately. In a survey of high school and college-age people by software company Jobber last year, 75% said they would be interested in vocational schools offering paid, on-the-job training.’ #communitycollege #workforcedevelopment #industry4.0

As an industry leader, I couldn't agree more with the Electrical Trades Union's recent call for a comprehensive plan to address the alarming decline in apprenticeship commencements and completions. The numbers speak for themselves: apprentice numbers have fallen, and female participation remains stubbornly low. With a projected shortage of 32,000 electricians by 2030, we simply cannot afford to continue down this path. The electrical workforce is the backbone of Australia's efforts to meet its international climate obligations and maintain a reliable power supply. Failure to act now will have severe consequences for our industry and our nation as a whole. It's time for the federal government and the chosen support providers to present a clear, robust strategy to reverse years of declining apprenticeship commencements and completions. We need fresh ideas and innovative approaches, not a rehash of the same formulas that have failed us in the past. Some key areas that demand attention include: 1. Identifying and addressing the root causes of non-completion among apprentices 3. Implementing effective outreach and recruitment strategies to attract more diverse candidates, especially women, to the electrical trade 4. Collaborating with industry partners to create a supportive and inclusive workplace culture that fosters apprentice success 5. Investing in state-of-the-art training facilities and resources to ensure apprentices receive the highest quality education and hands-on experience As industry leaders, we have a responsibility to work together with the government, unions, and support providers to drive these changes. We must be proactive in sharing our insights, best practices, and innovative solutions to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers. Yes! More importantly, when was the last time you heard in order to fill demand, we need to generate 300,000 lawyers and social scientists in Canada? Did you know the going rate including pension and benefits in the unionized trade sector is approximately $40.00 per hour on average depending on trade. $40 x 2000 = $80,000.00 per year. Not a bad living x 2 in a household and you are actually buying a home in Canada....not renting. Did I mention the pension...almost equivalent of the public service sector. Imagine.
