🌱 On my way to London today for an inspiring meeting with Suzy Samuel 🐝💤 about sustainable rentals and the essential role of sustainability in business. It’s quite ironic—did you know that London was once known as "The Smoke"? This nickname dates back to the 19th and early 20th centuries when London was enveloped in a thick fog caused primarily by the burning of large amounts of coal. As we discuss the future of sustainable business practices, it's a stark reminder of how far we've come and how important our commitment to the environment continues to be. #energy #energymanagement #london #energyexpert #b2benergyexperts

📊 One quarter of the UK’s #greenhouseemissions come from the built environment. To hit net zero by 2⃣0⃣5⃣0⃣, emissions at every #building lifecycle stage should be reduced, not just during operation. While policies focus on operational emissions, embodied carbon #emissions, yet substantial, are often overlooked. It’s London Climate Action Week #LCAW2024, so what better time to talk circular cities. London is responsible for 62% of waste in the UK according to ReLondon. That’s a pretty shocking figure, when you realise that only 13.4% of the population live in the Capital. Our sector has the biggest opportunity to make a difference when it comes to reusing waste, whether it’s the materials that make up our buildings and roads, or the by-products of construction. For highways, that means everything from putting planed asphalt back into roads, to recycling sand and stone from gully waste. We need innovators in our industry who can think creatively about circular solutions. That includes workers on site, technicians in labs, and decision makers in boardrooms. C40 Cities' latest blog looks at the millions of jobs already supporting the green transition. #innovation #future #economy https://lnkd.in/eNqNgCRq

It’s fair to say the UK waste sector is lagging in tackling the environmental impact of rising resource consumption. Reconomy’s new framework is set to change that by supporting the circular economy, reducing emissions, and keeping resources in circulation. 📣 Guy Wakeley, Reconomy Chief Executive, says: “It's essential for the new government to take decisive steps to improve resource management. Let’s work together to build a waste-free world!” 🌟 Join Us: Be part of the change. Embodied carbon refers to the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated throughout the lifecycle of building materials. This encompasses production, transportation, assembly, maintenance, renovation, and eventual demolition and disposal. Understanding embodied carbon is crucial for reducing the environmental impact of construction and working towards a sustainable future. #Sustainability #EmbodiedCarbon #GreenBuilding #ClimateAction #SustainableConstruction #EcoFriendly #GHGEmissions #FutureOfConstruction #GreenTech #SustainableLiving
