Hello all. This coming Easter break and May half term, I shall be running a series of Masterclasses. The topics have not been decided, so if you are interested, in any/all of the classes, let me know and suggest a few topics you'd be interested in me covering. * The price depends on how many people sign up. * The maximum charge will be £15 per student for an hour's lesson. * These classes will be open to current students as well as anyone else who I have not yet taught. * They will be pitched at GCSE Science and Maths students, but open to everyone. * Anonymity is encouraged and attendees webcams and microphones will be turned off. * Questions may be asked at any time during the lessons via Zoom chat. * Lessons will be recorded for future viewing and students will have access to the resources during and after the lesson(s). New data shows only 22% of Year 8s are where they should be for maths. Today at the National Party annual conference, I announced what we are going to do about it. We are accelerating the shift to a new maths curriculum – so from Term 1 next year, your child will be learning maths based on a new world-leading, knowledge rich maths curriculum – similar to countries like Singapore and Australia. We’re also rolling out top-quality resources to support teachers for every school – giving parents the confidence that their child will success. Anyone wanting to train as a teacher will need at least NCEA Level 2 maths and we’ll invest $20 million for professional development in structured maths for teachers. Every child will have twice yearly assessments for maths in primary schools from the start of 2025 – and we’ll have small group interventions to support students who have fallen significantly behind.
