🛰 Last week, SERTIT was present to the #SWOT Science Team in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. https://lnkd.in/dCUjuBqF It was an excellent opportunity to get an overview of all the work being done around this new data and to talk about this major project with our colleagues and partners. Several SERTIT studies were presented: 📃 Two Posters: - "Assessment of SWOT L2 HR PIXC (pixel cloud) products for riverbed recognition and characterization: case of the Old Rhine, between Kembs (France) and Breisach (Germany)" : https://lnkd.in/d3vB2Nsv - "Preliminary assessment of SWOT L2 Lake products over small water bodies in the Alsace and Lorraine regions (France)" : https://lnkd.in/d5zu5NFr 📊 One presentation about our study over the Rhine river + works and results integrated into CNES presentations Thanks to the CNES team for their constant support and the confidence they have shown in us during this project. Thanks also to our colleagues at CS GROUP, INRAE, vorteX-io and the Université de Strasbourg for all their contributions to these works ! And to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for organizing this wonderful event !

Our paper "Short-term Collision Probability Caused by Debris Cloud" has been recently published in the Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics! With our research, we propose a fast and accurate method to estimate the collision probability in a short window following the generation of a debris cloud. Thanks to my coauthors, Reem Algethamie and Roberto Armellin. Te Pūnaha Ātea - Space Institute

El Segundo has played such an important role in the continued progress of the space industry. We’re excited to co-host a happy hour there for the industry next week, but for now, let’s look at why this area of Los Angeles is so vital to aerospace innovation. You have to have institutional anchors and a concentration of knowledge to create an industry hub. In El Segundo, that starts with Los Angeles United States Air Force Base, which is home to the Space Systems Command, which is responsible for developing satellite constellations. It is also home to The Aerospace Corporation, a federally funded R&D lab, and houses key operations for major companies in the defense industrial base. Innovation in the space industry took another step when SpaceX started, and El Segundo was the site of its first operations in the early 2000s. Today, this has all helped give rise to a group of innovators and entrepreneurs that are pushing boundaries and solving hard problems in the space industry. At Prewitt Ridge, we’re proud to be among this group, and we’re excited to invite you to meet the community at the LA Space Industry Happy Hour. We’re co-hosting the event along with Payload, Generation Space, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Deloitte on June 11 — can’t wait to see you there! LA Space Industry Happy Hour 📅When: June 11, 5:00 — 8:00 PM 📍Where: Lil Simmzy’s on the Deck, Los Angeles 🍻Food and drink will be provided. ▶️RSVP: https://lu.ma/q7okfj3t #aerospace #engineering #defense

It was a delight and an honour to present the Cloud Telescope at You Shot the Sheriff 16. This is the first time the CT is presented at an industry event, the most exclusive in Brazilian soil, and there is much to celebrate! This was an unique opportunity to meet, give back and thank key individuals who helped shape my career. I would like to thank once again: #ystscon organisers: - Nelson Murilo Rufino - Luiz Eduardo - Willian Caprino Speakers who in the past showed me key components used in the Cloud Telescope design, architecture and foundational aspects: - Nelson Brito - Rodrigo Montoro - Nelson Murilo again Special thank you to the new friends who have shared inspiring words as a feedback after the presentation: - Renato Moura - Filipi Pires - Andre Ricardo Landim Hats off to the new friends who I shared the stage with: - Hermann Wecke - Guilherme S. - Luiz Henrique Barbosa (Cabuloso) Also, thank you to the Cloud Telescope co-authors: - Barry Irwin - Lucas Beiler - Carla Merkle Westphall In case you would like to learn more about the Cloud Telescope, please check out the following resources: - Cloud Telecope main paper: Link 1: IEEE Xplore (paywall) https://lnkd.in/d_4iSfGb Link 2: Google Drive https://lnkd.in/dc99p_aT - Cloud Telescope Infrastructure-as-Code, in Terraform, currently compatible with Amazon Web Services: https://lnkd.in/dZ-MXg8h - The PCAP enrichment platform is currently an early-stage, alpha-quality code, but does the job at generating the LaTeX tables seen on papers and presentations. https://lnkd.in/dC2f3Q32 - Datasets: Dataset 1: 21 million events. ~900MB Link 1: IEEE Dataport (paywall) https://lnkd.in/dqbFQ9iR Link 2: Google Drive https://lnkd.in/dWHJNB-a Dataset 2: 10 billion events. Data centers in space are the ultimate "moonshot." But several of these projects are moving closer to reality.
