It is unfortunate that global warming is accelerating faster than scientists had anticipated, that the climate models relied upon by world governments have a built-in flaw that is underestimating warming, and that the Paris Accord’s ambition of holding warming to 1.5 degrees has already failed. Under the terms Paris Accord, the 1.5 degree target is not considered broken unless average temperatures remain above it for years. The agreement takes into account the possibility that even if the world manages to reduce emissions adequately it might experience temperatures above that mark for years before they stabilise and begin to fall later in the century. #climatechange #climateurgency #globalwarming #parisagreement #flawed #degrowth #sustainability #possibility #temperartures #ipcc

There's been a massive disconnect between what's communicated widely about the science of global warming by organizations like the IPCC and the IEA, and that leading scientists actually believe. Remaining below 1.5 degrees is a fantasy. The reality is now far past that. Companies and governments have been making decisions on faulty projections and a false belief that we have more time and carbon budget than we actually do. The outcome of #cop28 means that 1.5 still has a lifeline, but with the lack of legally binding language, it means we all have our work cut out for us. #climatefinance will be key in achieving the just and urgent energy transition needed to get us there.

To quote: “The successive reports and their updated predictions can be seen as recalibrating the narrative of risk to lower temperatures. The implication is that as real-world warming has not met the more alarming early predictions, the scientific response has been to lower the temperature benchmarks at which significant climate disruptions are anticipated to occur. This re-calibration ensures that the narrative of a looming and immediate climate crisis remains at the forefront of public discussion and policy-making.”

Video below is 80 mins long but totally absorbing. It challenges the scientific consensus that global warming is man-made. This sounds utterly foolhardy but there is apparently a powerful scientific Orthodoxy whereby sceptical scientists find it very hard to get funded or published, are bullied and forced to leave their jobs. Hence, it's easy to achieve consensus by exclusion and the blind-trusting mainstream media will always fall in line. The Orthodoxy is aware that the colossal research money pipeline will stop flowing if global warming is disproved. The video presents evidence that: (1) Earth's current warming is within natural cycles even just considering recent history back to the 1930s; (2) Land temperature records heavily contaminated by urban heat island effect are dishonestly presented as proof of escalating global warming;(3) Over the Earth's geologic past, CO2 has been unimportant in driving global temperatures changes;(4) A better explanation for global warming is sun activity and its effect on cloud formation; (5) There is no evidence in the climatic records for extreme events becoming more frequent.
