This week members of both our standard-setting boards, the #IASB and the #ISSB, have been to Mauritius for the PAN AFRICAN FEDERATION OF ACCOUNTANTS (PAFA) Annual General Meeting and Technical Forum. The theme of the conference was ‘Driving sustainable value creation in Africa’ and it was hosted by Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA).   ISSB Member Ndidi, Dr Nnoli-Edozien updated our African colleagues on recent developments in the ISSB’s work to develop a global baseline of sustainability disclosures, as well as African jurisdictions’ progress to adopt or use the ISSB’s Standards. IASB members Bertrand Perrin and Bruce Mackenzie spoke about the IFRS work plan, new Accounting Standards and the uptake of the IASB’s IFRS for SMEs Standard in Africa. Thank you to all our speakers and attendees at this year’s IFRS Foundation Conference 2024 👏   Here’s a peek at some of the ISSB-related breakout sessions we held at the conference:  (Picture 1) Implementation of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, led by ISSB Member Veronika Pountcheva and ISSB Technical Staff–S1 Lead Sundip Jadeja. They discussed how the ISSB is supporting the implementation of the ISSB Standards through key areas such as advancing its capacity-building programme, developing educational material and maintaining the SASB Standards.    (2&3) The ISSB’s work plan, led by ISSB Member Richard Barker and ISSB Technical Staff Charlotte Lush. This session focused on the priorities of the #ISSB over the next two years following its recent Consultation on Agenda Priorities. #IFRSConference24

The IFRS Foundation Conference concludes with an interactive Q&A session where attendees are engaging directly with IASB Chair Andreas Barckow, IASB Vice-Chair Linda Mezon-Hutter and ISSB Members Richard Barker and Veronika Pountcheva. The board members are answering questions on a wide range of topics including on connectivity between the IASB and ISSB, implementation of IFRS S1 and S2 and the voluntary nature of IFRS 19. #IFRSConference24

At the IFRS Foundation Conference, our breakout session on Integrated Reporting–its heritage and use today is being led by:    - Jonathan Labrey, Chief Connectivity and Integrated Reporting Officer  - Richard Barker, ISSB Member  - Rika Suzuki, IASB Member  - Yulia Feygina, IASB Technical Director—Connectivity  - Laura Girella, Technical Specialist—Integrated Reporting They are sharing insights into the development of the Integrated Reporting Framework and explaining how it has been used since it became part of the IFRS Foundation’s materials in 2022.  The panel is also exploring how the IASB and ISSB are advocating for adoption of integrated thinking and reporting. #IFRSConference24 #IntegratedReporting #IntegratedReportingFramework
