I was clearing my shelf and found this program. (picture in the comments) The Africa Women Trade Conference (AWTC) organised by OWIT Kenya (Organization Of Women In International Trade) in conjunction with International Trade Centre @unwomen among was a game changer for me. We were asked to design and implement the digital marketing plan for the event five weeks our from the date of onboarding. At the point of onboarding with my team, there were 5 registrations and through all the joint efforts we had a total of 200 women in the room and online. As Lead Storyteller at Akiko Stories, I've always said that we need to know who we are, understand our clients and respond to their needs as stipulated. So we used this in our strategy. 📍Defined our offer - 2 days of trade conversations with women from across the continent. 📍Defined our audience - women in trade and aspiring women in trade (we invited 20 young ladies who were still in college); International Trade organisations and trade support organisations; donor support organisations 📍Established where we'd find them - this is determined by the audience namely Facebook, email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and the website. 📍Deployed quality information where the audience is reachable in the desired format, time and frequency. Every audience responded accordingly and we reached thousands of women through our content and ads. This event resonates because it allowed me to market, moderate and mentor…the three things I live to do. Oh Wow! Pleasant Surprise of a fearture in BusinessDay !!! First, thank you, BusinessDay, for the feature! Quite a busy day yesterday, with several hours spent in meetings with my team at I-Train Africa. I-Train Africa is an #EdTech Social enterprise on a mission to help 10 million Africans become globally employable and visible by 2030! Given our #employability goal, we have in the last six months been intensely focused on building the Skilled For Work Academy: A finishing school for youths & women starting their careers or professionals #transitioning who hope to gain in-demand workplace skills to become globally #employable. We spent the last three years developing, iterating and testing the curriculum for the workplace foundational skills (WFS) program on nine demographics. This year, we rolled out the refined curriculum and scaled its reach to 20+ countries across #Africa and four other continents. This WORLD-CLASS-ONE-ONE-OF-ITS-KIND program has since had 10,000+ persons from Africa take at least one module at the academy, with 100s enrolling fully in the academy to upskill themselves for the global workforce. The remote workers program, as our students will call it, has been delivered across four batches. Beyond the number, the WFS has 90+ skills stars (what we call our students) gushing about this never -seen-before life-changing program about. Its impact can be glimpsed in the 80+ mind-blowing Google reviews we have, which all can view. (link in the comment). Given the SFW is an academy tackling the issue of unemployment holistically, we have now proceeded to admit 100s of students into the technical school under three significant programs (#projectmanagement, #productmanagement and #contentmanagement programs), and we are set to graduate the first batch of the technical school by August 13. About 40 of this number will take the 3rd phase of this uniquely designed solution: the internship program where partners (we are actively recruiting partners; find an interest form in the comment) take on our skilled persons as interns to deliver them work tasks for two months at no cost to the organisation. This will ensure our 5:30:30:35 rule of #employment, which accounts for 5% academic, 30% Soft Skills, 30% Hard Skills and 35% relevant experience, is met. This has been an arduous journey, but it is worth the impact it is making! Features like this make us remember we are touching lives, and we cannot wait to meet our goal of #upskilling 10 million Africans by 2030!

Today I had the honor of representing The Disrupt Agency (TDA) in a strategic meeting with the highly esteemed Johnny Muteba Founder of Pan African Chamber of Commerce. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘇𝘇 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴! 💓 It was an absolute joy to facilitate the third cohort of the Women Empowerment project, brought to life by the ASEAN SME Academy and the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund. Together with Yuling Xu, we brought together remarkable women, fostering a community, guiding and facilitating how they could build alliances and offer mutual support. During our session, we asked the women to share their #qualities. Interestingly, almost all went silent for a while, with only a few sharing couple of qualities. This silence reflects how deeply ingrained it is in our Asian society to focus on what is wrong, often forgetting to appreciate and recognize our own qualities and #strengths. I, too, experienced this as a young child, which clearly affected my self-esteem. Yesterday, we celebrated and empowered everyone, reminding them that they too have valuable qualities. With the support of a now resourceful community of women, they too, can dream and turn their business ideas into reality, all while balancing their diverse responsibilities, learning and growing together. We also had the wonderful team flew in from #Korea to join us, and to also ensure the continuous high quality of this program and how this project can further enhance and benefit our women's community across #ASEAN. This project also offers 10 #entrepreneurial modules, specifically designed to support these women, especially MSMEs in their business journeys. In the pages of my personal and professional journey, a new chapter has unfolded with the honor of being recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports through the innovative #TalantaHela program. This recognition propels me into a realm where I am poised to make a meaningful impact by imparting vital digital space skills to the youth. The timing of this endeavor is particularly significant as our country undergoes a digital transformation, exemplified by the migration of various services to online platforms like the #eCitizenApp. The embrace of the digital space signifies a monumental shift, and not only the youth but also every business sector needs to tap into this shift. One of the key aspects emphasized in the digital realm is the return on investment (ROI) in digital marketing efforts.  Understanding the metrics and analytics behind online campaigns is crucial for businesses and individuals alike.  By delving into topics like ROI, I hope to instill a strategic mindset, for people to make informed decisions in their digital ventures. Moreover, the sheer scale of social media engagement in Kenya adds to the significance of digital skills. With a rapidly growing number of active users on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, the potential for reaching and influencing a vast audience is unprecedented. In this digital renaissance, brands are no longer faceless entities shouting into the void; they are creators of communities. Online spaces are transforming into hubs of shared interests, where brands foster genuine connections, loyalty, and trust.

#MadeInAfrica or #MadeforAfrica The other day, it was a hearty conversation about brands in Africa with Thebe Ikalafeng, the founder of Brand Africa on the #ThePulse on Joy News. In sum, we discussed why 64% of Africans claim love for Africa and how it curiously does not reflect in both aided and unaided recall scores for African Brands. I shared that there is a tonne of work waiting to be done to bring African brands to speed and this is based on a few observations: LEGACY The legacies of older and far more established brands are deeply engrained, in our aspirations. Our successes are even measured in certain circles by the brands we patronize. Until we are reconditioned, we will continue to love, patronize and recall these brands rather than African brands. INVESTMENT We need a lot of investment in African brands. This will enable our brands to "afford" the consistently impactful marketing executions that have led to the growth of global brands on our continent. Two questions arise from here, What are Africa's millionaires investing in? Why are African businesses often not open to partnerships, equity, and collaboration that drive scale? MARKET SIZE When the anchor asked about #AfCTA, I shared that it is the way by all means. A bigger market will certainly be more attractive to investors.
