IgniteData has successfully closed its fully subscribed $8 million seed round. This round was led by SpringTide Ventures, who has joined the IgniteData board alongside existing strategic investor, ZS. SpringTide’s co-investors are Oncology Ventures and Frank Naeymi-Rad, co-founder of Intelligent Medical Objects, Inc. and a Chairman of Leap of Faith Technologies, Inc. In addition to the new coalition of investors, IgniteData received further backing from Innovate UK in the form of an additional grant and R&D loan. Clinical Trials Day arrives each May 20 as a joyful opportunity to pause in reflection, recognition, and admiration of all that has been accomplished thanks to clinical trials and the people behind them. Our co-founder Dan Hydes has shared a very personal reason why clinical research is close to his heart - and central to everything that we do as the IgniteData team... "Glioblastoma (GBM) is a dreadful disease that claimed both my mother and my maternal grandfather when they were both barely older than I am now. There are many reasons why I do what I do, but playing even a tiny part in the fight against cancer, by producing software that helps get new drugs developed and to the people that need them faster, is what truly motivates me and the whole team at IgniteData." Outsourcing in Clinical Trials Europe Conference heard last week how AI and RWD can avoid data replication in clinical trials. In a thought-provoking conference keynote Mats Sundgren highlighted that up to 70% of data used in clinical trials is replicated from data that already exists in a patient’s EHR. This accounts for approximately 20% of study costs, which are allocated to this data collection and verification process. Referencing IgniteData's Archer EHR-to-EDC data transfer technology Sundgren highlighted that Archer uses data from the EHR and automatically transfers this in a deidentified manner to sponsors. Not only can this technology save investigators time and reduce site burden, but it reduces a sponsor’s research and development costs.
