Detecting and protecting against threats in the complex undersea defence environment is one of the challenges facing us today. We’ve been at the Undersea Defence Technology event this week, showcasing how we’re working on next generation technology solutions designed to reduce the physical and cognitive demands of users, while enhancing safety and performance. James Loudon, from our Future Capabilities Team, spoke at the event about how we are seeking to address the challenges around undersea defence threats, and how nature’s own swarm intelligence patterns have given us insight into developing systems that can enhance undersea connectivity and can control single or entire fleets of vehicles in a defence environment. #SwarmTechnology #Swarmcore #UDT #Innovation

Threats to aircraft, vehicles, and ships rely on the electromagnetic spectrum for targeting and guidance, and many produce electromagnetic energy during operation. Detecting and countering threats requires the full use of the electromagnetic spectrum, from RF to EO/IR and laser energy for improved geolocation and threat identification to appropriately employ and tailor countermeasure response.
