Why does "getting you to the right team" take an automated phone system four and a half minutes and six options pressed before you finally end up talking to the wrong team after five minutes and fifty-seven seconds? And no. I do not want to "visit your website" with "all the information I need". I want to talk to something that breathes, and has a pulse. It's nothing personal... Update... You've guessed it. I have tried again and am now waiting for an Agent because they are "experiencing high call volumes" BUT... I may be able to "find the information I require on the website". They are however, "sorry for the delay" and I am "working my way up the queue". They "care about my call" and will I please be "kind and respectful to their Agents". Of course I will, assuming I am ever given the chance to actually speak to an Agent. I have lived too long. I am a dinosaur who doesn't belong in this Brave New World anymore. (I imagine there is something about dinosaurs on the website!)... Update... Finally got through to an absolutely charming Lady who sorted everything out for me. It wasn't the service, it was getting to it that was the issue. We really should not be too proud of this technological terror we've constructed. The ability to visit a website is insignificant next to the power of human interaction!...

Nugget #66 - be aware of how your words prime people’s thoughts & feelings. If I tell you, “DON’T think about dinosaurs!” What do you think about… Dinosaurs. Something about how the brain processes information has us focus on key phrases - even when we don’t want them to. Be careful using words you don’t want people thinking about in your sales conversations. Examples: 🚫 “I don’t want to waste your time” 🧠 They’re thinking about their time being wasted. Then the million other things on their plate. This conversation seems less relevant. ✅ “To make best use of your time” 🧠 They’re thinking about how to best use their time. That what everyone is really trying to do everyday. This conversation will help me do that. ——— 🚫 “I know you’re busy” 🧠 They’re thinking how busy they are. Increasing likelihood to automatically brush you off. ✅ “I’ll be brief” 🧠 If they are actually busy they want you to be brief. They feel understood. More open hearing your idea.

Ever wondered why we don’t see dinosaurs sipping coffee at Starbucks? Well, here’s a thought: Dinosaurs never drank coffee, and look how that turned out for them! Is this causation in action? Causation tests the relationship between two variables. Seeing two variables moving together doesn’t necessarily mean one variable causes another. So, before you rush to gulp down another cappuccino to avoid demise, remember this: Just because two things happen together (like no coffee for T-Rex and its eventual goodbye), it doesn’t mean one caused the other. It’s the time-honoured mix-up between correlation (things happening together) and causality (one thing actually causing the other). That's why the saying: causation doesn’t mean correlation. I bought a stuffed dinosaur I already owned for $100, and it was worth every penny. My three-year-old daughter has been inseparable from her beloved dinosaur (aka Dirty Dino 😂) since she was two months old. No replacement has ever fooled her. Last year I took my family on a vacation spanning multiple cities. As we began our 2nd leg of the journey, my daughter's puzzled expression caught my attention. 'Where's Dirty Dino?' she asked, her voice tinged with concern. A frantic and fruitless search through our belongings confirmed our fears – Dirty Dino wasn't with us! We must have left him in the taxi. My heart sank at the thought of her enduring the remainder of our vacation without her beloved Dino. By the time we were able to get ahold of our taxi driver, he was an hour away and we had 90 minutes before we had to leave town. Understandably, he needed an incentive to return. My solution? Offer him $100. It worked! Dirty Dino was reunited with our daughter just in the nick of time! This experience reshaped how I view value. Value isn't a simple cost + margin equation. It's a personal experience that's unique to each person. It's a blend of tangible benefits (like cost and time savings) and intangible ones (like joy and relief). Whenever I'm putting an offer together for prospective clients, I pause to consider the intangible factors they're looking for. ...It also taught me the value of stuffing valuables with AirTags. 😅

Be the Cockroach: Important Lesson by Chetan Bhagat in his book ’11 Rules for Life’: Nobody likes or respects Cockroaches but they certainly have a quality that should be admired by all. Cockroaches are amongst the most Adaptive creatures on Earth. Millions of years ago, there were dinosaurs. They ruled the world. Nobody could mess with them. Then, the ice started melting, Tectonic Plates shifted and other natural changes occurred. The dinosaurs couldn’t adjust to the new environment and eventually became extinct. Cockroaches, however, existed millions of years ago and are thriving today. It is because they can adapt and live anywhere. When their environment changes, they don’t freak out and worry. They are chill about change. The ability to adapt is very crucial in life. Those who can adapt continue to grow. Those who can’t, get stuck and decline. Nature doesn’t care how intelligent, or strong you are. If you don’t adapt, which means changing according to the needs of time, you will perish. You may not like change, but change is inevitable. Whenever presented with options in life, involving status quo or change, lean towards change. Over time, change won’t scare you much. Charles Darwin’s ‘Survival of the fittest’ theory also states the same- ‘In nature, it is not the strongest or most intelligent that survives, but it is the most adaptive that does.’ #change #adaptive #charlesdarwin #learning

The red beak and stark, white spots that seem to float on it like paint splats on plastic. Descended from dinosaur scales, feathers refract light in ways that cause us to see these colors. What flowers do they like? They have families, societies, and live in the heat and the cold. They fly, and they locate with senses we've abandoned or never had. But we have senses. And we can re-embrace them. Get curious. Find awe. Step away from frustrations, blame, stress, and find something familiar or something new, and really get curious about it. What makes it go?
