I couldn’t agree more with this Williams Lake Tribune editorial. And while it is true, from a historical perspective, that local governments in the Williams Lake area (Cariboo RD, Williams Lake, SD27, First Nations) have had an adversial relationship, at times, in the past — there is recent recognition that mutual cooperation gets more results vs fighting each other. Such recent examples of trying to work together include a hopeful return to a Joint Grant in Aide process between Williams Lake/Cariboo RD Areas D,E,F in Fall 2024, a more cooperative relationship between City of Williams Lake/School District #27 as well as current work underway researching the possibility of a truly Regional Emergency Planning Service vs having one for each of the 4 municipalities (Wells, Quesnel, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House) and one for the Regional District’s Electoral Areas As the old saying goes — you get a lot more done with honey than vinegar … https://lnkd.in/gUsrfXgV #BCLocalGov #LocalGov #WorkingTogether #CollaborationNotConfrontation
