But realistically speaking, even if one is in demand gen, these can not be part of one person's JD. One needs a unique skill set and KPI focus for each of these "activities". Yes, of course, there's an overlap, like setting up email flows to build a webinar funnel and push the webinar on social media, but when you work in the trenches, you need more than just the basics. Of course, you can do it, like setting up automation, and using AI to plug in the content, but is it really email marketing, though? A good email marketer should actually go in the mind of the prospect when they enter their email for whatever it is they expected, and then lead the conversation from there, leading them to a path of conversion. If it was a webinar, they will need to not only confirm the reg, but also sell them on the value of the webinar by, understanding their unique level of awareness, and where they are in their customer journey. This is just one of the many things we see when we cross-pollinate job descriptions, and quality suffers. Now, I'm not saying a person cannot do all that, but to do it right, really right, it is unfair to cluster it all in one job. Any amount of learning will not make them an expert at all of them.

When it comes to personal branding, what is the purpose of social media? I normally say it should be for expression, but I also agree with those who say it should be to position yourself for opportunities. (If you check my previous posts on this account, and if you stumble on my old account with over 3000 followers, I showcased myself as an expert in marketing.) However, I really want to express myself through my social media pages, and I have different aspects of myself that fit into the aesthetic of different social media platforms. But I can't be on all of them at the moment. I have limited myself to three platforms, but creating content that fits into these three different platforms can be challenging. Just this morning, I talked about “avoidant behaviour and proactive communicators” informally on Twitter, and I posted "how to start your 9-5 journey for those moving from founders to employees'' on TikTok, using video and trending audio. Though I have some content that cuts across all 3 platforms, the mode and method of expression differ and I have the mode and method for the 3 I'm currently on, but moving from one to the other can be challenging I love to cook and enjoy videoing myself and my process, I will say I bant well and sometimes too well that I don't bant because the other person might not get the gist, and I have lots of experience in marketing that I enjoy talking about and I need a new job Why can't I use one platform to be formal, informal, and express my multiple personalities and talents? #Random thoughts#jobseeker#hiringmanager#socialmediamanager#socialmediapost

I don't profess to be a LinkedIn marketing expert and I'm pretty fussy about letting people join my network unless I see the relevance. My fan club seems to enjoy my posts and honest talking. I often receive messages thanking me for being truthful, without fear of the repercussions, when others will and continue to sit on the fence. In my observations of certain businesses, they are missing a trick. One of the most basic things about Marketing is to understand that it's not one-dimensional. Marketing is multifaceted. A cohesive strategy is required to gain the most benefit. As such, I would encourage a joined-up strategy for all employees of the company to help promote and bring together a common voice for their brand. How many companies have a common voice for their brands? Bigger groups should have an advantage here because of the potential employee numbers, if campaigns are aligned carefully. Delivering messages to an audience and gaining traction for their efforts should be a primary focus, but as a collective, not working alone. All employees should treat social media as a marketing tool for their employer, which automatically lifts their own presence and builds a personal brand in conjunction with adding value to their employer. This can go very wrong, if the wrong things are said. Who's policing the content from the employer's perspective? How does someone's post look in the eyes of their audience? I'm beginning to work much more closely with my clients and contacts in this regard. Food for thought.
