What is a Bailout Benefit? The outdoor company Patagonia has long been known for its exceptional employee benefits. Be it the in-house daycare centers, the employee handbook "Let My People Go Surfing" (that's right, employees go surfing during working hours), or the two-month paid vacation for volunteer work. The company is always coming up with new ideas to retain its employees. The absolute highlight of the benefits for employees, however, is that Patagonia covers the bail for employees and partners if they are arrested for peaceful environmental protests. As an outdoor company, Patagonia is very sustainable by nature, and the "Bailout Benefit" reflects this even more clearly. Meet Sophea Lim, Caddy Master at Vattanac Golf Resort, Phnom Penh Cambodia. Sophia is honored this month for the Troon Value: Genuinely Meticulous. She takes care in preparing her team and their guests to ensure daily success. Q: How did you get into golf/become a caddy? A: I have always enjoyed different sports like volleyball and I noticed on social media that there was a job opportunity at Vattanac Golf Resort, so I was naturally interested and saw it as a good opportunity to involve sport in my career. Q: How do you inspire other women to become a Caddy or Caddy Master? A: I like to explain the opportunities available to them when working at Vattanac Golf Resort, and how the training program will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Many Caddies do not feel like they have many opportunities in life, so I like to show them that there is always room for career development regardless of their background. Q: This month, we celebrate Wellness, both for our associates and our guests. Caddying can be quite physical work; what are some stretches or exercises that you recommend for your caddies to do before starting a round with the guests? A: We encourage the team to stretch their legs before and after the round; it can make all the difference! Q: If a guest were to say to you, I only have 10 mins to warm up before my round, what do you recommend I do to warm up? A: I would say the most effective warm-up in a short time would be to get the body moving, and into similar positions that they need to achieve on the course. A few swings with 2 or 3 clubs together helps get the hips, arms and torso moving. If there are a few extra minutes, I would always recommend a short chipping session around the green to build some confidence before heading to the 1st tee. Day one at The Superyacht Group Forum in Amsterdam. It was great to share the work we have been doing through the ‘Changing Tack’ working group on how the industry can be better in supporting crew wellbeing and mitigate the causes of welfare issues. There’s still a lot of issues crew face at all levels and the industry need to make changes. Recommendations to follow. Next standout session was on ‘Building Human Capital’ with Martin Redmayne. There are issues across the industry with attracting and retaining talent. Some solutions shared including aligning with the ESG framework and promoting purpose/impact. Is the industry doing enough to have a positive impact on the world and the people in it? That’s what young people will get behind. Similarly, educating children on the opportunities in maritime will increase the workforce of tomorrow. UKSA are already doing this with great success. What we need is the financial support of the industry to grow our impact. We shared what we do, will companies still want a solution if it costs them money? The forum is meant to be solutions focussed. First camp invests in Mora and Orsa With shows at Moraparken, children’s playland with indoor mini golf and new ticket packages with nearby amusement parks, First Camp is investing heavily in its camping facilities in Mora kommun and Orsa Kommun. - I really look forward to this year’s summer season, says Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp. - It will be the first full year now with the glamping tents in Mora. It was a messy start with last summer's rainy weather, so this is the first real summer. We also have glamping tents down by the lake in Orsa, says Johan. First camp owns seven facilities in Dalarna out of a total of 72 in the Nordics. Dalarna is by far their largest market, making up a quarter of the entire turnover. This means that Mora and Orsa are important facilities for the group. - It is by far our largest and most important region, so I spend a lot of time on the facilities here, says Johan. First camp bought both facilities in Mora and Orsa at the end of the pandemic and has seen a rapid recovery where the numbers are back to the same levels as before Corona. Now, for the first time, they are investing in attracting visitors with different shows at Moraparken. - It is a big investment for us. Ideally, it should suit both the locals and guests, says Johan. In addition to the shows, the big investment in Orsa is the Yessiland playland. It was inaugurated last year and is the first of its kind within the group. - It is an investment of several million SEK. There is also an indoor course for mini golf, since the weather is not always the best. Orsa is the first facility with Yessiland and it is open all year round. As far as I know, it is the only camping site in Sweden with a large indoor playland, says Johan. What characterizes Mora and Orsa is that there are plenty of activities, and all year round, says Johan. Starting this summer, packages will also be introduced where overnight guest at First Camp can get a cheaper price on tickets to other popular tourist attractions in Dalarna, Tomteland AB and Leksand Sommarland. - What's great about Dalarna is that it's an attractive destination both in summer and winter, concludes Johan Söör. #investindalarna #visitdalarna https://bit.ly/4cGWLqW
