World first sneak peek! Fresh from bottling yesterday our first Botivo Drinks Limited Edition product launching this Thursday exclusively on our Botivo website and at the iconic restaurant Maison François The good news is that we had enough liquid for 650 bottles so that’s 50 more than we expected. Sam Paget Steavenson (raising EIS) is a liquid genius. It’s delicate, balanced and a totally new Pastis inspired flavour profile. And the talented illustrator Rozalina Burkova reworked our characters to mingle around the MF iconography. It’s a beauty! Thanks also to our insanely hard working team Francesca Nikita Corradin , Kate Emlyn Jones , Jack Flood and Michael Knowles for staying late at the Farm to get it bottled, waxed and ready to go. An appreciation post… We have had a lot of champions since we started Botivo Drinks. But I feel a special shout out needs to go to the talented team at DELLI Simon Beckerman and Marie Petrovicka know a thing or 2 about creating community and world class businesses, but to have them and their passionate DELLI team on the side of independent brands has put a spring in a LOT of our steps. They’ve supported and championed Botivo from the very beginning, before anyone even knew who we were. Every product on DELLI is curated and world class. In a world where independent brands struggle to get heard amongst the big brand money their belief and support means more to so many brands and founders than they realise. Thanks DELLI for all you do and for picking Botivo to showcase in your nationwide summer campaign. May this be the beginning of world domination and a case study that community first REALLY works. Special shout out also to Samantha Wong and Octavia Pendrill-Adams who have been amazing throughout. 3 things I think are key to building engaging drink brands! 1. Remember, most consumers will only EVER see your product on a shelf/bar Over the years I have seen so many brands forget that most consumers don’t see their great company culture or their creative instagram, they just see the product on the shelf. And that is it. So ensure the bottle reflects your brand personality. 2. Make sure that your liquid and your brand are clearly connected The best brands for me have a liquid with attributes that mirrors the brand. If you have a rich, punchy product then have a punchy, loud brand. It’s authentic and ensures your brands feels consistent and thought through. 3. Ensure your brand actively plays to tensions For me brands that talk to tensions make the most powerful brands, and ones with longevity. What tension does your brand play to in culture / category/ what consumers want? What are you pushing up against? When we created the Botivo Drinks brand these were all major considerations and the fact we invested so much thought into them has really helped us ensure we are focusing on the right things as we grow. Botivo Drinks first Limited Edition product launches 11th July. WHAT IS IT? We plan to make our hero Botivo product ICONIC, we don't believe in getting distracted with lots of SKUs, formats and flavours. BUT the benefit of making Botivo ourselves is that we can do Limited Editions - all made with real ingredients and by hand. And we plan to release super premium, 600 bottles batches every 6 months, collaborating with brands we love. Our first with the iconic Maison François restaurant. It will be available EXCLUSIVELY on our website and theirs (and served by the glass at Maison Francois). WHAT IS THE FIRST ONE? Inspired by the indulgent, sun drenched world of Pastis, this super premium product marries the bitter flavours of earthy artichoke and woody gentian root with the floral notes of chamomile and the aromatics of star anise and fennel pollen. Sip over ice with soda water and garnish with a bay leaf. Sam Paget Steavenson (raising EIS) my cofounder and the maker is a GENIUS.
