Workplace Inclusion Architect | Guiding HR Leaders to build a more inclusive workplace they can be proud of
A gentle trigger warning (TW) here as I’m going to raise awareness about people who are: 🔵 Childless not by choice (cnbc) or 🔵 Are non-parents by choice #WorldChildlessWeek is 11th-17th September and aims to raise awareness of the childless not by choice (cnbc) community, a space that welcomes anyone who is childless despite their desire to be a parent because they have never been pregnant (for any reason), not carried full term or have suffered the sadness of a baby born sleeping. www.worldchildlessweek.net hosts an extraordinary amount of information and support from people sharing stories, events and resources, including exploring male childlessness. The homepage features a personal story from the Founder Stephanie Joy Phillips as well as various support groups offering the positives of being childless. When it comes to being a non-parent, I think back to the podcast episode where Jody Day - Founder of Gateway Women - a global support and advocacy network for childless women with a social reach of about 2 million people - highlighted how the workplace is leaning into support working parents and those on fertility journeys, but that those who aren’t parents are being forgotten about. In fact Jody has said before that women without children in the workplace are the biggest diversity issue that HR hasn't heard of. According to the Office for National Statistics, approximately one in five women aged forty-five and over in the UK have no children. Now further data from the ONS shows that 50% of women in the UK aged thirty have not had a child. Whether it was a choice, or not a choice, there’s a large group of people without descendants that we need to be mindful of, particularly in the workplace. Stephanie’s website and Jody’s podcast are both valuable resources for anyone looking to learn a little more about these topics. https://lnkd.in/ggUNY2fP #NonParents #Childless #ChildFree

Happy International Women's Day #inspireinclusion There have been so many great events this week, and still many more to come over the remainder of the month. It's amazing to hear so many personal stories from women brave enough to share, in the hope of inspiring and building confidence in others. There is much more awareness about female challenges such as menopause, childcare, caring responsibilities, fertility, maternity, not having allies in the workplace, feeling like their is a glass ceiling for their career, etc. but there are so many people focusing on helping break down those barriers, raising awareness and creating allyship. Every story, every piece of support for a female colleague, every positive word, every person who increases their awareness about female barriers is helping to #inspireinclusion. Don't forget the power of networks, surround yourself with those who will help to raise you up. Support others and support yourself. 🙆♀️

Certified Menopause Coach, Life Coach & Women's Health Advocate | Real Estate Strategist | Global Business Development Professional
Starting a new career and building a business has so many considerations, big and small. Recently, I was asked to describe my artwork and logo and how it represents me, my cause and my community. My answer is as follows... The lady in my logo represents a woman of the world, a symbol of diversity and strength. She embodies the shared experiences of women from all walks of life, reflecting the beauty of our differences and the power of our shared sisterhood. As half of the population, women have unique experiences that are both diverse and interconnected. One such experience is menopause, a natural and significant phase in a woman's life. It's a time of transition that can bring about physical, emotional, and psychological changes. Embracing menopause as a part of our collective journey as women is essential in fostering understanding and support for one another. The Lady in my logo stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of womanhood. She is a universal symbol, transcending cultural and societal boundaries to embrace women of all backgrounds. Her presence is a celebration of our shared joy, struggles, victories, and the collective wisdom that comes from being part of a global sisterhood. In a world that is often marked by division, the representation of women from diverse backgrounds coming together under the banner of sisterhood is a powerful statement. It speaks to the strength that comes from unity, understanding, and inclusivity. My hope is that this Lady serves as a reminder that as women, we are united in our experiences, and our stories intertwine to create a rich tapestry of sisterhood. #sisterhood #womenempowerment #womenshealth #womenoftheworld #menopausecoach #globalcommunity #MEG

So great and truly love seeing more and more articles on the urgency of the problem and impacts well beyond just the individual families and women (as if that wasn't bad enough) but... <sigh> I desperately wish we would finally begin talking about #childcare in a context beyond just early care. Where are the Forbes articles that talk about the #mommytax? Childcare doesn't end with daycare graduation afterall. To theSkimm and Moms First (formerly Marshall Plan for Moms) and the #showusyourchildcare pledge, where in the DB is the column that shows how companies support employees w/kids older then daycare? The employees who spend thousands each year on childcare because school ends at 3pm but work extends another couple hours. Just so they can hold a job? Why isn't that part of the pledge? Esp when up towards 60% of working parents w kids in this group. I get it. I'm a single mom who spent $26k NET income on my "little" even WITH a stipend from my company. But every parent knows the problem doesn't go away, it just changes. We can and must fix it all because without a wider view we're just ending up paying for a cheeseburger tomorrow that we're eating today.
Thank you to Forbes and @amyshoenthal for including us in this very important conversation around child care with Reshma Saujani As Danielle Weisberg mentions, “we thought we’d be able to take advantage of all the progress that’s been made. Instead, the pandemic hit and we were set back in so many ways.” Our recent #StateofWomen Report highlights that 73% of millennial women feel overwhelmed by the demands of being a parent. Which is why we can’t afford to NOT look at the child care crisis as an economic issue. It’s forcing women to leave the workforce and that is already impacting all of us. #showusyourchildcare https://lnkd.in/ev-NZ2FY
