I'm thrilled to share that I've recently completed an enlightening course on Global Diplomacy in the Modern World from the prestigious University Of London, offered through Coursera! 🎓 This was a subject I've been eagerly wanting to delve into, as it aligns perfectly with my future aspirations. Exploring the dynamics of international relations and understanding the intricacies of diplomacy has been truly eye-opening.

Thriled to share that I have been selected by the US embassy in Lisbon to represent Portugal as a young diplomat at the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship (BFTF). This program was initiated in 2006 to commemorate the 300th anniversity of birth of Benjamin Franklin an iconic American statesman and diplomat, whose career, interests, and studies took him across the Atlantic Ocean, bringing better understanding between Americans and Europeans. The honor of participating on behalf of Portugal this year allows me to engage firsthand in diplomacy and international affairs, contributing to strengthening bonds between European and American cultures, values, and relations over the course of one month. As a European representative, I have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with 53 young European and American ambassadors. The Fellowship aims to not only enhance the representatives' understanding of U.S. foreign policy priorities, such as youth engagement, support for democracy and civil society, and economic prosperity but it also allows them to contribute to these important discussions from a European and from their national perspective. This year's fellowship, hosted by Purdue Universityin West Lafayette, Indiana, and Georgetown University in Washington D.C., combines rigorous coursework with enriching community service activities. During our seminars, we delve into topics such as democratic practices, conflict resolution, problem-solving, critical thinking, and youth leadership while meeting U.S. politicians, judges, journalists, and other professionals. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to equip us with the skills and knowledge needed to foster positive global change and mutual transatlantic understanding between our cultures. In the previous weeks we have been exploring the work of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of state government and we had the privilege of discussing recent legislation with District 26 Representative Chris Campbell at the Indiana House of Representatives in Indianapolis. We also visited the Boiler Kids Camp at Purdue University to introduce parts of our country and culture to kindergarten and elementary school children. Fostering transatlantic relations is crucial for strengthening ties between Europe and the United States, promoting mutual understanding and collaboration in addressing global challenges. Immersing students in international civics enriches their understanding of global affairs and fosters empathy for diverse cultures. Teachers can enhance this learning by partnering with local consulates, developing international school projects, and engaging with global citizenship programs. For instance, collaborating with consulates provides unique opportunities, while international partner projects allow students to directly interact and learn from peers abroad. Hello LinkedIn Community! 🌟 I am thrilled to reintroduce myself on this platform as I embark on a new chapter of my life! 🚀 🎓 Over the past year and a half, I completed my International Master's programme in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Leeds, thanks to the prestigious Chevening Awards. My programme explored intricate realms of global governance at various levels, covering critical issues like globalisation, regional integration, and international organisations. Additionally, I delved into the tapestry of international diplomacy, covering aspects such as diplomatic practice, negotiation, and conflict mediation. My favourite courses included "Global Inequalities and Development” and “Sustainable Development and the Environment." 📚 The highlight of my academic pursuit was my dissertation, where I explored the impact of CARICOM institutions on strengthening integration within the CARICOM: Caribbean Community. This research fueled a greater understanding of my Caribbean neighbourhood as I played upon the themes of Caribbean history, identity, and politics through a global governance lens. 🌱 Now, armed with a wealth of knowledge and a burning desire to make a difference, I am gearing up for opportunities to work or consult in the fields I am truly passionate about—both in my beloved Saint Lucia and across the wider Caribbean and the world.
