โNever tell a young person that they canโt be something without giving them a fair chance.โ About 11 years back from today, I was meeting the elderly founder of Indiaโs largest media agency. He was offering me a job at his company as the Chief Digital Officer. However I had different plans. By then I had already chalked out everything for LIQVD ASIA and come 2013, we were set to roll out a brand new agency! Hence the naive me, told him, that the โXโ salary that you are offering me, why donโt you invest the same amount in my upcoming venture and I will build you a #digitalfirst agency at the same cost. He of course denied. But thatโs not the problem. In my journey, I have heard many Noโs. What really bothered me is that despite being a lifelong entrepreneur he told me that โentrepreneurship is badโ โitโs very difficultโ etc etc - in short he tried to desuade me from this over all plan of mine. And that to me is the big problem! And whether I followed his opinion or not, but the โearly-30-something-meโ, with no background of business and a fall back cushion, got really really scared and thinking. He managed to create #selfdoubt in me! I realised that this was the intention, and thatโs what a lot of senior professionals do best, they create doubt in the mind of people without giving them a fair chance to do something with or without their support. In fact his child, who was also joining the business at that time, also followed up on building the fear. And that to me was the last nail in the coffin. I mean you can choose to not support, especially if itโs not part of your plan and thatโs perfectly ok, but one must always encourage change! Every change in a positive direction is a good thing. And that is my idea of #mentorship - โInspire changeโ in the mentee/juniors/young people. Because you know what, thatโs all they need! #cheer #management

Few days back we celebrated the Republic Day of India which made me to think at first place why do we need a constitution in a country which also brings me to a question why does a company needs a culture? Why do we need this at the first place? As an entrepreneur I have realised that Culture of a company and Constitution in a country bring about A HEALTHY LIFE OF DYNAMIC EXISTENCE ๐ฏ The constitution of our country recognises and establish Freedom, but at the same time, it contains a host of rules and regulations, restraining us from doing all that we would like to do. Just like getting a driving license doesnโt give you right to overspeed or break the traffic signals and other rules so with Freedom practise of self-restraint is applied Why is Culture needed in an organisation / Company? Just like the constitution of a country a companyโs culture helps us to understand the Doโs and Donโts of the company in their Value system A strong value influences a way the brand or company is perceived with What we Stand for and on the other side what we cannot stand at all As a company culture just like a country constitution needs clear lines of what to do and how to do and the set rules on Freedoms and regulations need to be established With this culture we can address aspects of our organisation such as teamwork, Collaboration, Productivity, Brand perception and many businesses activities And what does all these lead to? โ A constitution in a country and a culture in a company makes them internally strong which is ready to face challenges and be Dexterous enough to handle conflicts both internally and externally.
