Unitree Robotics has set a new world speed record with their H1 humanoid robot! The bipedal robot can now walk at 3.3 meters per second, or 11.9 km/h (7.4 mph). Although not as fast as human athletes yet, the humanoid is improving with each version. #SanctuaryAI has just unveiled the seventh generation of its general purpose robot #Phoenix, bringing us one step closer to human-like intelligence in robots. The new generation and its AI control system, Carbon, boasts impressive hardware and software improvements, including increased uptime for data capture, faster build and commissioning speed, reduced manufacturing costs, and significant hardware enhancements. With improved visual acuity, tactile sensing, and range of motion, the Phoenix robot is one of the most sophisticated human behavioral data capture technologies available today. Thanks to these enhancements, the time it takes for new tasks to be automated has gone from weeks to less than 24 hours, marking a major inflection point in task automation speed and autonomous system capability. It's been less than 12 months since Sanctuary AI's sixth generation robot was launched, which was named one of TIME's best inventions of 2023, and less than 16 months since its fifth generation robot was first commercially deployed in January 2023. The team's hard work has paid off with this latest breakthrough, which is sure to have far-reaching implications for the future of robotics.

🚀 Ever Wonder How Robots "See" the World? 🤖 Boston Dynamics just shared a mind-blowing video showcasing how their retired robot, Atlas, perceives its environment. 🌍📊 While Atlas has been a groundbreaking platform for robotics research, Boston Dynamics recently unveiled a new, fully electric version of Atlas3 . This next-generation Atlas represents an evolution of the platform rather than a retirement of the concept. The new Atlas is designed to further push the limits of whole-body mobility and manipulation Robots like Atlas use a combination of sensors to perceive their environment. Boston Dynamics explains that robots can "see" the world in at least three ways: Visual sensors (cameras) Depth sensors Inertial measurement units (IMUs) These sensors work together to provide the robot with a comprehensive understanding of its surroundings, allowing it to navigate, interact with objects, and perform complex tasks. The data from these sensors is processed and interpreted by the robot's onboard computer systems, enabling it to make decisions and adjust its actions in real-time.
