I have an overwhelming need for a triangular hole, somewhere.... 😴

Après qu'est ce qu'on peut faire d'un alésage triangulaire ? ❓😕🤨

I think if you were to try that with a hand drill you better have a good doctor on speed dial to set the broken wrist. Properly sized materials to construct it and both sections held solidly in a press ok, by hand, I'm not that brave.

The geometry is interesting, but as designed there's no way for this to follow a pilot hole, so as soon as you touched the material you're looking to cut through you'd have a pretty good illustration of chaos theory on your hands. Even if you somehow secured both the drill and the material, the stresses on the parts here would more or less disintegrate most materials if you tried to core through anything tougher than a bundt cake.

It is interesting, but laser cutting would be easier!

I can fix the error in alignment with a spring-balanced tapering gear, allowing the gears to remain in contact at all times there is an allowance. However, this would likely lead to a centre of rotation that is less stable than desired and would probably need 3+ gears to provide stability and guidance from multiple directions. An interesting even if seemingly unnecessary engineering problem to solve.

awesome concept, but does it works in reality ???

Beg your pardon, my eyes tell me that the axle of the cutting "boat shape" moves along a trigonal deformed closed curve, not a circle. How will the "planet" cogwheel, driven by the round "sun" cogwheel follow the blue line and not just move along the circle path defined by the "sun"? Furthermore, how to ensure the definitely high demand for stability and parallel alignment of the main and the secondary axles. The Video sure looks nice, but I am not yet convinced.
