3. Each color requires a new screen Screen printing shirts involves printing one color at a time—if your design has multiple colors, each new color will require a new screen and setup. In other words, once the colors are separated digitally, each color will be burned onto its own screen. On the press, the ink color is selected for each color in the design and printed one at a time. Creating a new screen for every additional color increases the setup costs for an order—meaning, you'll pay more for your custom shirts if you need more than one color.  At The Red T-shirt Company, we’re capable of printing up to 8 colors on one side of a shirt. However, most shirts we print have 3 to 5 colors. If you’re on a budget, here’s how you can save money on your next order of screen-printed shirts: Make the art or design as simple as possible.  Create artwork with one to three colors for your t-shirt design. Increase your quantity to reduce costs.

Thankfully, your project is fine and uninjured, unless your designer has had an unfortunate accident. "Bleed" is a term used in design when preparing a document for printing. Bleed is an extra area around the edges of your document. You extend, or "bleed", your background color or images into this area. Imagine you're designing a flyer and you want the color to go all the way to the edges of the paper. Printers can't usually print right to the edge. To work around this, they print your design on a slightly larger sheet of paper and then cut it down to size. When the paper is trimmed to its final size, using bleed, you don't end up with any unwanted white edges. The amount of bleed you need can vary, but a common size is about 1/8 inch (3 mm) around each side of your document. So, if you're designing something that's going to be cut down to 8 x 10 inches, you'd actually make your document 8.25 x 10.25 inches to include the bleed. In summary, "bleed" helps ensure that your final printed document looks exactly how you want it, with colors or images extending right to the very edges of the paper. #graphicdesign #designtips

Tips to Get Your Design Print-Ready (PART 1) Whether you're a professional designer or trying the DIY approach to printing, there are a few steps you'll need to take. Make sure your designs are ready. Setting up your files correctly can solve printing problems in the future. Here are some top 10 tips for getting your designs ready for publication! 1. Use CMYK Not RGB The colours displayed on each screen are different, even if the file is set to RGB. But no matter which printer you choose, you can be sure that the colours you print will be the same. If you are preparing a printed document, use the CMYK colour scheme instead of RGB. CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and base (another name for black). These colors are the most commonly used cartridges and using these values will give you true color printing. 2. Always Choose The Right Resolution Size and resolution are two different things. You may have a document that is 1000 x 1500 pixels, but if the resolution is only 72 dpi it will print large but be visible. If you have a file of the same size but 300 dpi resolution, the print will be smaller but better. Consider the size and resolution of the file to get the large print. 3. Use Great Qualities Photos Not only does your file depend on resolution, but your photos also need consistency. If you want to scale an image, zoom out instead of up. If you want to enlarge it, use photo editing software like Photoshop so it doesn't look pixelated when printed. Turn off the file type of each image. PNGs are always better than JPGs. Although JPG images can be printed, the quality will be reduced. 4. Save The File In The Correct File Type If you plan to print the file yourself, your safe option is to save the output as a PDF. PDF files are the easiest way to save your work because your files don't look different on other screen sizes like most .docx files. Work with your printer to determine what type of document they prefer! 5. Add Bleed, String, Or Crop Marks Bleed are areas of data that exceed the length of the document to ensure that the pattern continues to the end when printing. Once the data is printed, the blood is usually clipped or printed with printer marks. The bleed and marks prevent the printer itself from producing too many white lines.

SUBLIMATION PRINTING Full colour digital printers, fitted with sublimation ink are used to print logos or artwork onto special transfer paper. From there, the paper is automatically cut to the correct size and shape and placed onto the surface of the product being branded, in the area being branded. The product is then placed in a press which applies heat that causes the ink to migrate from the paper onto the product. The flexible characteristics of the products are not effected since sublimation ink is actually a dye. There is no ink build up on the finished print as the ink simply transfers to the product so it looks like its part of the item. This branding method is ideal for producing multi colour images with gradients, half-tones and shading. Unlike screen printing where a setup charge is incurred per colour printed, only one setup charged is incurred for sublimation printing, irrespective of the number of colours in the logo. My latest effort, 'Kernville VI' is complete! Monoprint, acrylic, autographic ink, pen & pencil, 100cm x 71cm on Fabriano 5 This is the last [for the time being!] of my current commission for my old friend Luke Roberts. With this Post I thought I'd try and give out a little more insight [+ trade secrets!] into my ongoing techniques with gelliplates. With these larger pieces the key is layering, layering, layering... ...& layering 😅 This also tends to go in hand with using quite a bit of masking, but when I don't use this the key for placing any given print in the right place is to register the reverse of the gelliplate using a sharpie (easily removed afterwards with a light scourer) before working on the plate + printing. When working at scale I use Fabriano Rosapina paper, although I'm reliably informed that Fabriano Tiepolo is just as responsive to gelliprints. To enable decent work-pace, I always have a hairdryer to hand. While printing wet-on-wet is OK when using cartridge papers, some of the Fabriano paper surfaces can adhere to the gelliplate and bubble a bit, so a quick blow-dry doesn't go amiss between layers. Also, with these bigger prints, I tend to draw a cartoon over the first few, priming background layers, to give a good sense of where I'm going... 🏃♂️ with the foreground here I also used a lithography/autographic ink for a drawing element. This enables a contrast to the other picture planes, to give a nice earthy feel to the land, and [as it's a particularly sticky/oily ink] it separates from any acrylics that come into contact with it, making it stand out somewhat... 🖼 I've now been using Gelli Arts, LLC plates exclusively for my printmaking for 5 years - and you can find nearly 200 of my pieces using this method here ⬇ ⬇ ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eYw4vpAh

Day 17: Letter Q - Quadrichrome Quadrichrome, a fancy word for a not-so-fancy process! It's the secret sauce behind most of the colorful printed materials you see around you, from magazines and posters to packaging and flyers. But what exactly is quadrichrome? It's a color printing method that uses just four inks: Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y), and Black (K). These four inks, when combined in various proportions, create a vast spectrum of colors. Think of it like a painter's limited palette, but with the ability to mix and match to achieve a surprising range of hues. How does quadrichrome work? Printing presses lay down tiny dots of each ink in a specific pattern. Our eyes perceive these dots as a blended color depending on their size, placement, and overlap. Why is quadrichrome so important? Cost-effective: Using just four inks makes printing more affordable compared to methods requiring a wider range of pre-mixed colors. Versatility: The ability to create a vast array of colors from just four inks makes quadrichrome incredibly versatile for a wide variety of printing needs. Standardization: Since most printing presses rely on quadrichrome, it ensures consistent color reproduction across different printers and print runs. Here are some things to keep in mind with quadrichrome: Solid colors vs. vibrant tones: Quadrichrome can struggle to reproduce very bright or saturated colors perfectly. Details and small text: Fine details or small text can be lost due to the dot patterns used in quadrichrome printing. Despite these limitations, quadrichrome remains the workhorse of the printing industry, offering a cost-effective and versatile way to bring colorful designs to life!
