Eco Wave Power is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a finalist for the 2024 EDF Pulse Awards 10th edition, competing in the category of developing a profitable decentralized energy system. Finalists for the EDF Pulse awards will present to the EDF Executive Committee July 17, 2024, with winners announced July 18, 2024 in Paris, France. Since 2014, the EDF Pulse awards judges have reviewed more than 2,450 applicants and offered direct support to more than 96 startups, with 35 winners overall. Pulse award winners will be awarded tailor-made support in further research, proof of concept, professional development and other forms of aid. This significant recognition comes in parallel with the productive collaboration between Eco Wave Power and EDF Renewables Israel (a subsidiary of Électricité de France), which jointly own and operate a wave energy pilot project in Israel (the EWP-EDF One project). In 2023, the power station was officially connected to the Israeli national electrical grid, marking the first time in the history of Israel that electricity produced by the power of the waves is being sent to the national electrical grid of the country. Since then, the EWP-EDF One project has proceeded to full system calibration, to be followed by a ceremonial “plugging in” event to be held in November 2024 to commemorate this historic achievement. 🚀 Awesome news! #envelio has been selected to be part of the 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗘𝗨 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁. The goal of the project is to develop a digital twin of the entire EU electricity grid 🎉 To be ready for a drastic increase in renewable energy, we need to enable a reliable, resilient, and safe operation of the grid infrastructure in the EU. The digital twin technology can help us reach this goal by enabling more visibility into the grid state 🌟 , providing the capability to simulate different future scenarios in a safe environment, and facilitating cross-area data exchange. In the coming months, over 70 companies across Europe will work together to develop and test a pan-European digital replica of the electricity grid 🔌, which will be key to accelerating the deployment of renewable energy sources and driving the transformation of the energy system⚡. envelio will closely cooperate with E.ON One, E.ON, E.ON Energy Deutschland, Westnetz GmbH, Amprion GmbH, University of Dortmund and the Enel Group to provide input about how to overcome data silos and guarantee secure and reliable grid operations to enhance the coordination between TSO and DSO 👏. #AI and #Digitalisation in the #energysector Amidst the burgeoning clean energy revolution, the prominence of digital technologies and artificial intelligence is unmistakable, offering substantial advantages. These cutting-edge innovations not only optimise the seamless integration of renewables into the energy landscape but also elevate grid reliability, stimulate behavioural shifts, and possess the capability to forecast contextual changes in weather patterns or consumer energy requirements.  In the United Kingdom, the significance of digitisation and AI in the energy mix has been underscored by governmental, regulatory, and industry representatives alike. In 2022, a joint report from OFGEM, BEIS (now DESNZ), and Innovate UK emphasized that “The digitalisation of the energy sector is critical to reaching net zero by 2050 and supporting a smart, flexible energy system.” In response to this, the industry has developed a variety of projects to meet this need.   This session will bring together representatives from regulatory bodies, financiers, and technology suppliers, for a deep dive into Energy Digitalisation and it’s important role in decarbonising Britain.

We're excited to announce that Kitemill has received a €2.5 million boost from the European Innovation Council (EIC) to accelerate the commercialization of our Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) technology! 🌬️💨 This funding marks a significant milestone for us and our pioneering KM2 system, which was praised by the EIC Jury for its ‘Technological Advantages’ and ‘Readiness for Market’. 🏆 Our 100kW AWE device operates at higher altitudes where winds are stronger and more stable, leading to lower material use and higher energy availability compared to traditional wind turbines and solar power. ⚡🌍 Out of around 1000 applicants, Kitemill was among the 68 companies to receive the EIC Accelerator grant and the sole Norwegian company to receive support. This funding adds to previous EU backing, including €3.35 million and €2.4 million in 2019 and 2022. Additionally, we have a grant from the European Innovation Fund to demonstrate 12 systems of the KM2 model, known as the Norse Airborne Wind Energy Project. This latest grant was an important piece to allow us to realize this project. This new funding makes us eligible for the EU’s ‘Blended Finance’ program, potentially match-funding up to €8 million of private investment. 💶🔗 Our CEO, Thomas Hårklau, said, “Our technology has now been accepted and approved by the EU through three separate funding rounds. These DLR sensors can uncover 10-50% more transmission capacity, paving the way for increased renewable integration and energy efficiency.
