Training Provider, Strategy Consultant, Podcast Host, Conference Organiser, Thought Leader. I help improving railway performance and capacity through advanced digital signalling (CBTC and enhanced ETCS).
One aspect of "Digital Signalling" that is fundamentally different from business as usual in conventional signalling is the need for long-term technology support that a railway requires for software-based technologies such as CBTC or ETCS Level 2. This example from Singapore illustrates the foresight of an operator (and maybe some good advice from the CBTC supplier) and secures technology support for another 23 years, basically the entire expected asset life of the CBTC product. A lesson that other metro operators need to take to heart, particularly in times where market consolidation bears the risk of some product lines not being continued forever. #metro #digital #signalling #cbtc #singapore #assetmanagement #docfrankrailservices

FTI x INTERNET LEASED LINE ❓🤷♂️ What is a leased line? A leased line known as a leased line - is a form of direct connection between network nodes using a leased data transmission channel. Therefore, with this service, users have many options for suitable connection protocols: PPP, HDLC, LAPB... Regarding physical standards, leased channels are copper or fiber optic cables directly connected between two points. Using CSU/DSU terminals to connect the channel will depend on the supplier service. Some connection standards are HDSL, G703... Internet Leasedline is one of the key products of FPT Telecom International. We provide direct Internet connection to International (GIA) and Domestic Internet (NIX). Unlike normal Internet connections, Leased Line Internet lines can provide speeds from 01Mbps to tens of Gbps with the best commitment to stability, connection speed, privacy, and customer care service. Coming to this week's Newsletter, we will explore more about this product! If business customers are interested, please feel free to leave your contact in the comment section for support. #LifeAtFTI #FPTCorporation #35years #Kientaohanhphuc #Internetleasedline

Deputy Manager | Rail Vikas Nigam Limited | Government Of India | Interface Management, CBTC, Railway and Metro Signalling | Automatic Fare Collection | Network Engineering | Technical Leadership
CBTC is a modern railway signaling system that utilizes communication between trains and the control center to manage and optimize train movements. Here's a generic outline of what a CBTC system like Sirius might include: 1. Train Positioning and Localization: - CBTC systems use advanced technologies such as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) or sensors installed on trains to precisely determine their location on the track. 2. Communication System: - Sirius CBTC likely incorporates a robust communication system to facilitate continuous communication between trains and the central control system. This communication is essential for real-time updates, commands, and data exchange. 3. Centralized Control: - The CBTC system, including Sirius, is typically controlled centrally from a central control center. This centralized control enables efficient management of train movements, ensuring safety and optimizing traffic flow. 4. Dynamic Speed and Headway Control: - CBTC systems allow for dynamic adjustment of train speeds and maintaining optimal headways between trains. This adaptability enhances operational efficiency and safety. 5. Interoperability: - CBTC systems are designed to be interoperable, allowing trains from different manufacturers to operate on the same tracks seamlessly. This interoperability fosters flexibility and system compatibility. 6. Redundancy and Reliability: - Systems like Sirius likely incorporate redundancy features to ensure continued operation even in the case of component failures. High reliability is crucial for maintaining safe and efficient rail operations. 7. Integration with Signaling Elements: - CBTC systems integrate with signaling elements such as trackside equipment, signals, and switches to ensure coordinated and safe train movements. 8. Automatic Train Protection (ATP): - CBTC systems include ATP functionalities to enforce speed restrictions and ensure that trains operate within safe limits, preventing collisions and ensuring passenger safety. #cbtc #advancerail #technology

(#LetsTalkETCS Post 6) Welcome back to #LetsTalkETCS. I will introduce you to the ERTMS/ETCS application levels in this sixth post. If you've heard of ETCS before, you must have heard about the levels. If you are new to ETCS, you might wonder what the ETCS levels are and how they differ from conventional signalling. ETCS levels describe the possible operating relationships between the trackside and the train, based on the trackside equipment used and how the information from the trackside reaches the on-board unit. Here is a brief introduction to the levels: - ETCS Level 0: The train is equipped with ETCS on-board, while the trackside is either not fitted with ETCS or isolated. The national signalling system (conventional signalling) is not fitted or in operation on the trackside. - ETCS Level NTC: The train is equipped with ETCS, and the trackside has the national system in operation. At this level, ETCS acts as the interface between the driver and the national system. - ETCS Level 1: The train is equipped with ETCS, and the trackside uses EuroBalise/Balise to communicate (one-way) with the train intermittently. - ETCS Level 2: The train is equipped with ETCS, and the trackside and the on-board subsystem can continuously communicate with radio base technology. Some of you who were previously aware of ETCS Level 3 might wonder why it has yet to be included. According to the CCS TSI 2023, ETCS Level 2 and ETCS Level 3 have merged. In a later post, we will explore this new combined level 2 in more detail. Have a Happy New Year!

KNL’s CNHF radios are automatic, which not only makes them easy to use, but they are more efficient than traditional HF radios. Traditionally HF radios have required skilled operators to help them find good frequencies where they can hear each other properly. KNL’s cognitive radios do this automatically, scanning the radio frequencies much quicker and more efficiently than an operator can. In fact, the CNHF radios are continuously analysing and adapting to the environment to find the best frequency and optimising every parameter needed for smooth radio interaction.
