I so enjoyed writing this paper with Jill Willis. The important message for educators is that typical classroom assessment practices are 'fragmented' for students. This may help explain why teachers' intentions for things like learning goals, success criteria, and feedback aren't always generative learning experiences for students. Read the open access paper in Australian Educational Researcher, to find out how to create more coherent Assessment for Learning. https://lnkd.in/gp5XTA55

HOTS for Teachers: Best Free Resources For Higher-Order Thinking Skills memorize the alphabet? Check. Memorize multiplication tables? Check. Memorize important dates from history? Check. The following free resources provide not only higher-order thinking lessons and activities, but also a framework allowing teachers to incorporate higher-order thinking skills into their curriculum.

When we begin our careers as educators, leaving the profession is not the plan. Some may comment that we know what we are getting into. Thinking back on my educational journey, I can honestly say that I was fully prepared for a text-book based classroom with text-book based students. The challenge, this is not at all what we as educators are walking into. Are we being properly prepared for today's students by college and university systems? By professors who haven't seen a classroom in decades? Is our curriculum based on texts written by authors who were experts in their field years ago but have no idea what classrooms look like today? Our foundational ask is, how do we attract and keep good educators in schools? Let's begin with how we are trained. https://lnkd.in/erDbWbYg
