The ED system is complicated and intricate, but with core recurring functions, features and structures, it has devices to mediate demand and creates buffering to make care safer. Adaption and accommodation to prevailing circumstances, tradeoffs and negotiations are constantly occurring. If ED fails to develop a good relationship with their adjacent specialities, efficiency and effectiveness will likely be suboptimal (Braithwaite,2019). ——————————————-———————— Interestingly, external Trusts commonly ask for our SOPs or protocols to improve performance. When in my view, it's behaviours that exist outside of policy that make the most significant impact. A culture of coordination and cooperation makes the most critical difference.
