Last week, I had the privilege to moderate the heavyweight Corporate VC (CVC) panel at the GPT DAO GenAI Summit: Jeff Hennig from AMD, David (Dede) Goldschmidt of Samsung Catalyst Fund, Elana Lian of Dell Technologies(previously at Intel Capital), and Tushar Gupta of Qualcomm Ventures formed the dreamcast representing the big names in the AI computing space. Some big takeaways: 1. [consensus] that the current genAI wave will continue strong for at least another 12 months; 2. [strong consensus] CVCs bring more resource and knowhow to the table than just their capital; so it's worth the effort to work with them. 3. [split opinion] to compete sometimes investors need to act fast, on the other hand, some advocates patience in the highly frothy market. 4. [no comments] on questions of semiconductor supply chain, each firm's product plan, geo politics, etc. as expected:-) All in all, it's a fun panel with a group of highly intelligent, experienced panelists with a good sense of humor. Most of all thank you Stacy Du, CFA, CPA for organizing this panel.

DYK: Networks can have a greater impact on R&D than centralized companies? In a recent comparison between Alphabet and Y Combinator, the network (Y Combinator) had a dramatically higher impact on R&D and tech. Here's what the network was doing well: 🤝 Enabling many groups to take on projects 🤝 Funding groups doing similar things 🤝 Supporting everyone equally By relying on the strength of the network, more breakthroughs and innovations could occur. Hear more on the topic from PL Founder Juan Benet in his talk at #LabWeek22 👇 https://lnkd.in/g88S5J63

We do a lot of events throughout the year, more than 20, in fact. Most of these are large events which involve months and months of planning. Each one is special and has its own vibe, its own excitement. But there was just something about Deep Tech Connect, which we organized with ecosystem partner HighTechXL, in only six weeks. There was a new level of excitement, a whole new level of deep tech players, and they were SERIOUSLY connecting at the sold-out event. There were impact investors and deep-tech startups, economic development folks, government representatives and tech experts from corporates of all sizes. The elusive Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML, Europe’s most valuable tech company, delivered the keynote address. The audience hung on every word. The theme of the day was connecting, and according to participant feedback, emails were pinging, calendars were syncing and conversations were sparking across the entire High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Deep Tech Connect was such a success, we’re planning to do it again next year. Stay tuned to this channel for more information. Until then, keep connecting! We were featured in the Dealroom.co report highlighting the key players in Baltic deep tech and AI. We truly appreciate the mention!🤩 They managed to define the term "deep tech" in the report very well. ⬇️ "Deep Tech starts with an extended R&D phase and involves a higher share of technical staff compared to conventional ventures. Once technical risk is overcome, there is additional risk in proving market demand for that product. If market demand is proven, Deep Tech startups have stronger defensibility from competition thanks to technology barriers." The report also mentioned Bolt, Eurora, Veriff, Skeleton Technologies, eAgronom, EyeVi Technologies, Rendin, Ready Player Me, Katana Cloud Manufacturing, Montonio, Comodule and LightCode Photonics. We're in good company! Link to the report is in the comments. Great stuff!
