We received excellent feedback on Aurélien Rizk's presentation from top GPCR experts! Today, InterAx Biotech was invited to showcase its unique drug discovery technology platform and highlight the results from its #GLP-1 program for diabetes and obesity. First, Aurélien Rizk gave a short overview about InterAx platform - highlighting how InterAx mathematical modelling and time resolved assays platform provides novel information on cellular response induced by drugs to predict therapeutic efficacy and safety in patients. Secondly, how the platform identified cellular responses linked to nausea and vomiting induced by GLP-1 drugs and how this allowed InterAx to create a novel class of small molecules that are 10 times more potent, and overcome the major side effects of nausea and vomiting. #EPFL #GPCR #DrugDiscovery #Technology #GLP1 #Diabete #Obesity

#transcript Punit Dhillon, Chairman and CEO of Skye Bioscience, focuses on anti-obesity and developing a drug that targets the cannabinoid receptor 1, which plays a role in signaling the body to store fat. The next generation of CB1 inhibition moves from a centrally mediated pathway to targeting CB1 receptors outside the brain. Deploying the endocannabinoid system, their lead drug candidate targets the major organs where CB1 receptors reside in fat tissue to increase mitochondrial activity and burn more fat. #SkyeBioscience #Obesity #EndocannabinoidSystem #WeightLossDrug #CB1Receptor #GLP1 skyebioscience.com https://lnkd.in/gp3g2cZ3

"#Prostaglandin, the metabolic product of arachidonates, regulates various physiologic functions through interacting and activating nine different prostaglandin receptors that belong to the G protein coupled receptor (#GPCR) family. Carboprost, an analog of prostaglandin F2α and an #Agonist for the prostaglandin F2-alpha #Receptor (FP receptor), is clinically used to treat #PostpartumHemorrhage (PPH). However, off-target activation of closely related receptors such as the prostaglandin E receptor subtype EP3 (EP3 receptor) by #Carboprost results in side effects and limits the clinical application. The most selective agonist for the FP receptor is #Latanoprost, which is a clinically used drug to treat elevated intraocular pressure in patients with #OcularHypertension or open-angle #Glaucoma, but is not suitable to treat PPH due to its poor solubility and fast #Clearance!" In this fantastic article published recently in Nature Portfolio Communications, researchers revealed the #CryoEM structures of the FP receptor in complex with carboprost and latanoprost: https://lnkd.in/edCXECjK These structures as well as the #Mutagenesis studies suggest the sub-pocket plays a key role in #Ligand #Selectivity. The high resolution structure information provided in this work will guide #DrugDevelopment and #DrugDesign of more selective #Drugs! #CryoEM #DrugDiscovery #Glaucoma #PPH

🧬✨ Investigating the safety and effectiveness of a new drug combination for treating recurrent high-grade #Astrocytomas: A phase 1 clinical trial. 🧬✨ Astrocytoma is a type of brain tumor that originates from star-shaped glial cells in the brain called astrocytes. According to the WHO classification, they are classified into four grades based on the degree of malignancy and aggressiveness. Pilocytic astrocytoma and diffuse astrocytoma are considered low-grade astrocytomas, while anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma multiforme are considered high-grade astrocytomas. High-grade astrocytomas are difficult to treat due to their aggressive nature and resistance to therapy. 🧠💊 This study contributes to the ongoing research on treatment options for malignant astrocytomas, specifically glioblastoma, and anaplastic astrocytoma. The combination of zotiraciclib with temozolomide, a standard chemotherapy drug, shows promising results regarding safety and tolerability. 💪❤️ For more details, watch our video @ https://lnkd.in/gcMyQzV7 and learn more about this groundbreaking trial and its potential to transform astrocytoma treatment. #CancerResearch #ClinicalTrials #BrainTumor #MedicalInnovation #Astrocytoma #Hope #Science #Medicine #Healthcare #Research #Breakthroughs #AstrocytomaSymptoms #AstrocytomaGrade2 #AstrocytomaGrade3 #AstrocytomaGrade4 #AstrocytomaPrognosis #AstrocytomaGrade1 #TypesOfAstrocytoma #AstrocytomaSymptoms #India #CellTalk #LifeScinces #Journal #HealthJournal #JournalClub #Healthcare #YouTube
