I'll be presenting on MD BEPS for the Maryland Affordable Housing Coalition (MAHC) during a webinar in March. We will discuss the energy requirements for multifamily buildings, including what we currently know, what's on the horizon, and what's still being decided. We'll explore the practical implications and share actionable steps you can take to ensure your portfolio is compliant and eligible for incentives before they expire. Buildings currently in design will be "existing buildings" some day soon, and they will also be subject to BEPS. This broad regulation will impact almost all buildings over 35,000 sqft in the state. Interesting development happening in Milton, Massachusetts and it's an issue that may seem small, yet, it has the potential to have significant impact on Boston Real Estate.😮 Milton recently became the first town in Massachusetts to vote against a new housing mandate aimed at increasing affordable housing.🏡 While the intent is to address the housing crisis, opposition voices concern over potential overcrowding and increased traffic. Alliance for Housing Justice commends the White House's historic pledge to act on tenants' nationwide calls and curb skyrocketing rents. President Biden’s call for a cap on corporate rent increases is a testament to the power of organized tenants and advocates telling our stories, demanding more for our communities and not taking no for an answer. A call to Congress is just a first step – there is a lot more that the President can and must do to make affordable rents a reality for tenants in the United States. We will continue to insist that every one of us  — no exceptions —  deserves safe and stable housing, and that the best way to get there is for tenants and communities to keep organizing and building power to transform our broken housing system together.

Here's the lowdown: - Austin now allows up to three housing units on a single-family zoned property, including tiny homes and RVs - Revised regulations applying to a property with two housing units - The removal of restrictions on the number of unrelated adults living in a house As Council Member Ryan Alter wisely put it, "What is allowed to happen on someone’s lot is instrumental in how that home ultimately is priced."
